Awlex177457y@C0D4 the thing is that the filesystem resizers use GB as default unit while fdisk uses GiB and it's not that obvious, which is why I was confused for 5 minutes

I don’t think the sarcasm was detected I guess 😅
I thought the “proper” would have given it away.
@Awlex
You’d think tools would use a single unit of measurement not chop and change as they please. -
Is there any point in time where you don't need GiB? Like who divides by 1000 when using these units?
Shame on me, but I call and write it GB, but use 1024 to convert. To have the ability to not use 1024 is bullshit.
Now out of curiosity, does windows use 1000 or 1024, cus the German version writes GB but every school teaches about 1024.👀
Teaching about 1024 then again would make no sense if windows and essentially most other people and all use GB, but calc with 1024
The struggle is real, this needs to stop. A Gigabyte has to be 1024 Megabyte ffs.
No need to invent Gibi and Mebi.
We have so many random exceptions in language and maths, why not there. -
Awlex177457y@daintycode windows shows you both values but encrypts with their opaque description.
Fucking GiB
