donuts236727ySo AMD chips can compete with Intel now?
My impression of AMD chips even if they're marketed as on par with Intel's always are slower when used.
I bought a quad-core AMD desktop once but was slower than my college Gateway laptop running Intel Duo/Core 2... -
tahnik387587y@AlexDeLarge Thanks! It's brilliant so far 🙂
@MisterArie It's long enough :D
@canonbolt around 1.9k (in GBP)
@billgates They are very close to Intel in terms of performance. Although I think they are still working on optimising it better, as I feel like it's not completely stable yet. -
tahnik387587y@jdevs Here it is:
Ryzen 2700x,
Asus X470-F,
Corsair 16GB 3000mhz,
EVGA GTX 1080,
NZXT x62 AIO Water cooler,
NVMe SSD (256GB)
and the other typical components. The case is Fractal Design Meshify C (TG Edition).
@Reffins the monitor is LG 29" Ultrawide. -
@billgates AMD has been up there for a year now. But still, look for benchmarks before you buy. Marketing does not make you a sheep, but it will use you if you are one.
-
tahnik387587y@AlexDeLarge If I understand correctly, they fixed a lot of stability issues related to RAM. Also, the base clock speed is a little bit higher.
-
tizo5647y@MisterArie looks to be an ultra wide which is like having two monitors without the bezel in the middle.
-
@tizo yeah cool without bazzel. For productivity i still prefer multi monitor setup. But hey for gammig dammm i love ultra wide 21:9.

bahua128017yLove my Ryzen desktop as well. For the money($800) an intel/nvidia setup with equivalent performance would cost twice that or more, and a mac would cost $5000+.
-
@bahua yes agree and mac is completely a different story. Btw im windows linux and mac user all togather 😅
-
bahua128017yRyzen 3 2200G
32GB PC2400 DDR4
512GB WD nvme socket SSD(no cables hallelujah!)
Lian-Li unremarkable case
GTX 1050ti
$850
I was pretty pleased with the price for performance. -

I put it together entirely for gaming. It plays everything I throw at it without the slightest hiccup. It sits in the corner without any input or monitor, and I interact with it 100% over parsec. -
bahua128017y@AlexDeLarge
I run at a max of 1920*1080, which fits on my left monitor, so I can run all my other stuff (like OBS) on my bigger, right monitor. 16GB is pretty normal, and certainly capable, but I wanted as much wiggle room as possible, and RAM isn't overly expensive. My favorite piece by far is the SSD though. About triple the I/O speed of a conventional SSD, and no goddamned cables. So the inside of the case is really roomy and easy to work with.
