after aprox ~1 year of using ubuntu with gnome and countless UI inconsistencies (and not to mention memory leaks left and right) I finally gave up and successfully managed to hackintosh my work laptop ... here's another reason why :(

When I got my macbook, I tried my best to get that shit called OSX out of it. You tried your best to get that shit inside a non-mac?

    Why?

Have you first tried a ton of other GUIs? Like the same KDE, or Pantheon?

truth be told i've always been a debian-based distros fan.

@AndSoWeCode that's the problem there are so many GUIs out there (mostly based on gnome) that each one fixes some problems + gets new ones and it gets tiring to try to fix (or try) them all the time. (don't hate me for saying this, but) so far linux feels too snappy and the smoothness still feels somehow like a luxury. after that there are the apps itself: everyone jumps on the electron train (can't blame them, praises for all the work! life's much more easier now) but electron uses soo soo much ram :(

@everyone seeing so many arch replies, i'll take a leap of faith and try it out as a backup os :D
