Could someone explain why these tariffs will help us? I’m being super neutral, I don’t care who created them, it could’ve been Biden, Obama, bush, I would still be asking this question…

The media loves tarrifs if the politician who implements them is the right party. Biden kept Trump's tarrifs from this first term. Weird how they are bad now.

Obama deported way more people that many previous presidents. But he was the right party so it was good then. Trump has not yet deported nearly as many. He will, but the numbers are not there yet.

IMO tarrifs are about leverage and fairness. China already had like 67% tarrifs on US goods. Now they increased it another 34%. Some countries don't allow any US goods to be sold in their country. And a lot of retards don't understand the term reciprocal. Countries that had no tarrifs on US goods are not getting tarrifs on their goods.

I have found that if a person sees everything as black and white then they are fairly immature in their thinking. When they see things with nuance they have grown up a bit. I see this with myself. When I was in my 20s I thought what I knew was correct with no wiggle room. Now I see how naive I was. Most of the people on reddit are black and white thinkers IMO.

@Demolishun FYI, in China, import tax on most goods has been between 0-10%. 15% on electronics, 50% on alcohol/ cosmetics/luxuries. 34% sweeping tariff will increase your bills significantly.

They create short term downturn in exchange for long term prosperity by making it more attractive for companies to invest in the US creating manufacturing capacity and jobs

@12bitfloat Unless people are willing to take horrible jobs with shitty pays, manufacturing jobs are not going back to the US. Assembly line workers in China work 12 hours per day, 6 days a week, for less than $3 per hour. Even if people are willing to take those minimum wage jobs with horrible working conditions, US consumers will still choose cheaper Chinese alternatives. US farming equipments are 4 times more expensive than Chinese alternatives and US equipments are shittier due to anticompetitive practices (no right to repair). With thin profit margins, farmers can't possibly afford US farming equipments. Adding 34% tariffs will absolutely crash farming industry. No one will want to buy from US farmers and 34% tariff is not enough to make US farming equipments competitive.

US has been profiting from slavery labor in China. If the US no longer wants to profit from slavery labor, good for them 😂
