I’ve been on devRant for a very short period of time and I’ve seen too many posts about PHP fucking people in the ass.

Is it really that bad?(I’m an embedded systems geek so don’t ask me why I don’t know anything about PHP)

@Loading ahhh wordpress is made of php and is an actual piece of crap that try to put a baseball bat in your ass with a hammer. But it's not a language, php is.

Old version of php was really unconsistant and annoying to work with.
But now, it's pretty decent and fun, especially with frameworks like Phalcon and laravel

Well....I like php, I only get fucked in the ass when I work with shitty php code. Which unless it is the one that me or my lead developer wrote(modesty.off()) it is pretty much most of the time.

php7 is better, but it took a while to get there and in the meantime some coding horrors did get thrown out to the wild for thousands of developers to suffer. Wordpress, albeit functional(for the most part) was a glorious mess when it first started and only got better never.

Frameworks like Laravel, Phalcon and cakephp are pretty good and if a project don't need a framework you can get purty flipping far with php if you follow best coding practices.

There are better options out there in terms of language design for the web such as Python, Ruby, Java and C# and competent frameworks in Javascript. But still, I prefer php since I can get pretty damned far using only standard php with solid oop practices.

It ain't bad, but it ain't a "good" language from a design perspective.

No, it's just LHF and an easy target. There's a lot of terrible PHP code out there but there's also a lot of terrible code in every language. People who diss on PHP are one of: just memeing, living 20 years in the past, or confusing the code that ends up on random tutorial websites with the code that ends up in production codebases.
