This reminds me of PC's still coming with a "turbo" button long after that feature disappeared from the motherboards inside.

@filthyranter There is a smooth fix option, that works by setting a max jump between frames. That means that when it is in use, it slows laggy levels down. The downside is that it cant slow down the song, so in laggy levels you loose sync very quickly.
There is also a low detail mode (a global one, not just per level) that disables particles. -
@filthyranter In some VERY laggy levels you can pretty much get speed hacks in vanilla gd using an option in the settings...

Under settings, we made a checkbox labeled “Run Program Faster”. The state was saved but it didn’t do anything.
We turned it “on” when people said things were slow. Usually they were happy and no one complained the “run faster” option wasn’t working.
