... for whatever reason I started on this quest to figure out what consciousness is but I somehow never expected to figure it out much less in this way. I figured I'd meditate to it but apparently I understood it through finding some math

but also

I literally didn't expect to have the answer, like ever. maybe like a thousand years if you believe the reincarnation rumours, or at least in my 70s or something. not like. 4 years later from when I started to give a shit. that's pretty crazy

    Not even scientists know what it is

    What's consciousness?

    This is.

    Right, time for breakfast.
  • 1
    @cafecortado but how can they study it if they can't point to any artifact of it?!

    it's actually not that hard to figure out... seems to be hidden behind misinformation lol

    @jestdotty

    > it's actually not that hard to figure out

    but how do you know your solution to the question is _correct_? after all, since the advent of mankind itself, people have been asking that question, and answering it, and there has not yet been any consensus on what the true answer is.

    @tosensei this is how those people do it. They assert that the whole body of science and philosophy is wrong and consists of liars. Then they make up their own crap and and keep claiming that they have found the truth which the evil establishment tries to suppress.

    @tosensei predictive power

    they did answer the question correctly tho also it just got lost. they had the quotes but not the meaning

    @Lensflare turns out I had a bunch of faiths and things I just "believed" to be true because otherwise it would be too weird and I just "didn't like that" -- even me who doesn't shy away from a lot of bad shit regular people never want to see because it's too much for them aaa

    and now all that poofs so it's embarrassing cuz... like now I know the feeling behind what it was to "fool myself". goddamnit

    but what makes the world seem more rocky is the lies you tell to yourself. and if they poof you get calm. I guess. actually I could ramble on about a bunch of interesting things but I'd run out of space and it would be incomplete on top of it

    @jestdotty Well do share with the class ;P

    @BordedDev fuk

    idk it's kinda personal and when I get epiphanies I tend to forget my former views. it's a metamorphosis like a Phoenix rising from its ashes

    tho you probably wrote this comment before I talked about the aether on snek๐Ÿ˜

    -

    um ok if I try to remember earlier the faith was like "I don't wanna hurt people", morals.. but if we are aether just hitting a physical body then it's survival of the fittest, and that would be the best spiritual outcome and the best outcome for the consciousness, aether. people have to die so consciousness can evolve. and prior I had faith that everyone had value and now I'm realizing well kinda they don't actually. now it's a bit more murky... and I realize some consciousness / qualia are literally... metaphorically speaking... "shunned by God" and for a good reason. such a thought before would've been heresy to me and made me sad to consider because I'm highly empathic but now it just feels like a cold fact and is no big deal at all actually

    @BordedDev also something else interesting is that all the spiritual people that say the material realm doesn't matter are wrong

    the material realm evolves the metaphysical one. the metaphysical realm wouldn't evolve at all without the physical, material realm

    I realize I would mix up what was my body and what was my consciousness. I had it a bit backwards. because Buddhism for example talks about not being attached -- so I became the aether. but you're not the aether. you're a glitch of the all consciousness / aether hitting your individual body, and that creates the soul. so without the body there is no soul. and the soul only evolves because it glitches into bodies and adapts to them and then learns from the experience of living. and that experience of living then informs the aether, and from that you get magic or quantum phenomena

    so I became aether and ignored the body too much. when really you actually need to be more egotistical, hedonistic. I understand my genetics now, too

    @BordedDev because for example me and my mom are quite different -- in our souls. but now I understand why we are so different. and I also understand what the genetics are. we have a lot of mannerisms, habits, thinking, preference patterns. that's all the body. but our souls are different so we fight / never got along

    and actually this whole thing makes me view her differently now as well. the reason why our souls fought is because she's miserable and I've always just refused to be miserable. so I don't take too kindly to people having limiting beliefs. I have the ego of a skyscraper. unfounded limiting beliefs annoy me. she thinks you have to lie to get around in life. her advice is basically abuses from USSR. she believes that stuff for herself. she believes in their status. but. I mean she's a smart cookie, in terms of efficiency, effectiveness if she wants to get something done. so am I. and I can respect our genes I guess. it becomes non-antagonistic to see it this way

    @BordedDev there was also this weird ancient hermetic or something idea about polarities...

    did you know any feeling you have you can just flip it to the exact opposite feeling? that was a strange meditation I had found. you don't need to know what the opposite is, there's just a button you can somehow press and just do that. how intriguing!

    isn't this cool? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

    wonder what other things one can use that consciousness power on ๐Ÿ˜

    ... and this works _only_ for the opposite -- a phase shift! so you are just stuck in a hole and can't get out. but meditating on flipping it to the exact opposite... by going through it and flipping the polarity... works perfectly fine. how very strange!

    (this is what made me piece it together)

    @jestdotty "predictive power"?

    so - your definition of consciousness is "pattern recognition"?

    i'd argue that this is a subtype of intelligence, but not at all consciousness.

    Where did you get your mushrooms? It looks like it's quality shit!

    @jestdotty Yeah I asked before talking on snek. And yeah, about the feelings thing, it's a common saying that the opposite of love isn't hate but indifference.

    Nice write up though :D
  • 1
    @tosensei what? no

    I mean the concept of consciousness has predictive power. I don't mean it underlies all predictive power. I mean its definition is not that of a specific substance we know predictive power of, but predictive power where we don't know what the specific substance is that is effecting things

    @BordedDev meh those vampire books I found are just a stupid cult =[

    so disappointed...
  • 0
    @jestdotty That's a shame but if you come across cool occult stuff let me know
  • 1
    @BordedDev ... I have went down deeper rabbit holes and now I have over 30 books

    who the fuck names something a "practical guide to teleportation"

    I am actually gonna keep reading the vampire books I got even though cult abuse tactics was the author's intention. seems all the vampires are fucking nuts. so it is what it is
