Condor323326yWhy... Why do you buy an overpowered laptop to do pretty much nothing on it. Gibe de admin, I'll run some AI choochers, password crackers and other research stuff on there :3 and use one of my Raspberry Pi's to play that Age of Empires π
-
@Nebuchadnezzar I'm well past the point where AI l poses any challenges, but I haven't reached the point where I can play well online. I get absolutely creamed in online play.
-
@Codex404 you can't use cheats / chat on HD edition cause once you press enter and open chatbox, you can't do it second time AND Developers aren't interested in fixing that bug :(
-
So you may like strategic games.
Here is mine old list.
Age of empire
Rise of nation
World of Warcraft
Empire earth
Command and conquer : generals -
Awlex177456y@carlos4068 haven't yet. Half of my visual novels come from humble bundles and include either Para or sakura in their titlesπ

JMente1236yGet gaming laptop
Play galaga in Atari 7800 emulador over android emulator running on that's laptop. -
Condor323326y@fml89 eh, it was more of a "a gaming PC is way overkill for this" rather than "a Raspberry Pi will be able to smoothly play games".. maybe I should've been more clear in my comment. Or mention something like the Odroid XU4 instead, which is a little bit beefier π€

fml892276y@Condor it’s all just in good fun :) i usually play aoe2hd while being on discord and might even be streaming to twitch - so having a beefy pc becomes a goodnight quite fast. Also who wants to close browsers for freeing up RAM? You just _add_ more :DD
Where are you from and what do you do? I’ve seen u posting about lacking modern hardware before :x -
Condor323326y@fml89 I do have reasonably modern hardware (3 machines with 8GB RAM each), but I like playing around in constrained environments as well. For example, one of my machines runs Proxmox, with usually some 10-20 active guests. So RAM is a constraint there, because honestly I can't ever have enough hosts in my network.. moar hosts, moar better π
As for web browsers.. I find several GB of memory usage to be extremely large. A billion bytes of code, just for a few dozen tabs? That's pretty insane if you ask me.. especially considering that most websites should - if they and browsers were built well - should be able to run with one a couple of MB. It's just a web page after all, nothing fancy.
Memory is always an issue here and I am looking to buy myself a new server.. something with 16GB RAM and 8 Xeon cores if memory serves me right. And migrate to LXC of course, but OpenVPN has been a bit of a pain in it, and I use that quite often π so there's that. But for memory reduction, LXC is great. Usually I'm looking at 60-100MB/guest with it.
As you may have noticed already, I'm a sysadmin as well as some other trades. They're expressed on my profile page. Currently I'm unemployed though, but the only reason for that really is that I haven't had an interest in looking for work yet. I'd like to preserve my time to continue learning electronics and recently Python, so yeah. I honestly just don't have the time for it as it is now, and the government is supporting me pretty well. -
fml892276y@Condor just noticed ur from Belgium aswell - im in the East side of the Country :D
That’s impressive - constraints are good for really learning to optimize. I think the development of the last few years have really switched the paradigm to the browser. I like that - devices should really just add ram :D -
s0nic1211206yI got excited about the new nvidia RTX2080, then I realized that I don't really game.
Me: buys gaming laptop.
Me: plays Age of Empires II
