Really depends if you're looking for something specific from a new distro or not... If not, just pick one and try, if you are then specify and we'll see what might fit you use case...

philcr30548yI used to use redhat or fedora. Ubuntu based is better in my own opinion. I quite like mint.

zaturek1378yI've used ubuntu too. Then one of my friends suggested to me the debian. I love it. Faster, lighter and run perfectly even on my old, weak notebook.

@neumann I would point you towards either vanilla Debian or Arch then: both take more setting up than you're probably used to (Arch the most), but if you want something light I think they're good ways to go.

I've been around a few the past couple of years, just settled on xubuntu. Don't need much from a desktop pov, trying to spend more time in the command line. Its my primary os now in a virtual machine on top of windows 7.
