Why do all my colleagues use Light IDE...

Why do you care? Use what's best for you. Let others choose what's best for them

@musician I agree with your opinion. Everyone is free to work with environment they believe is best suited for them. It's just that I particularly dislike Light Themes.

@irene convenient how? When you have to spend long hours in front of your screen, it tires your eyes more than a dark theme, moreover at night when you have to increase the brightness of your laptop (assuming you work on a laptop) your eyes have to do more effort to "take in" that white brightness and you can get the feeling of it sort of burning your eyes. I respect other people's choice of working environment but I don't just don't get it with Light Themes.

@irene Thanks for the quick response. I do the same thing with a dark theme (Usually 20-40% brightness during day and 0-10% during night) and I feel quite comfortable with it ahah. I said the increasing brightness part because that's what I have observed from my colleagues and also heard from them.

If your environment is well lit, then light theme is objectively better.

@arraysstartat1 That looks like an interesting study. I'll be sure to take a better look at it later. Thanks for this!

@irene at my home it's usually only bright during the morning and the rest of the day it's kind of dark due to getting indirect sunlight. I have tried a selection of white and dark themes and found myself most comfortable with the obsidian theme. The same at being at work.
