Last night my girlfriend told me that she downloaded devRant in attempts to understand my world. I nearly shed a tear. I'm so proud of her.

@Jumpshot44 not really but it's adorable when she tries. She started just saying a bunch of words she hears me say a lot, it as something like, "Functions, library, Ubuntu, Java... Script?, API, micro service!".

@DarKneT I personally believe that you shouldn't take your work home with you (if you are a coder as a profession). if she is a dev too, you run the risk of not being able to switch off since the conversation turns to work or coding.
it's important that you space yourself away from coding in your downtime so you don't burn out.
The only con really is that if you are very much software or back-end focused, she will struggle to find a middle ground. I do a bit of front and back web development so I can always talk about design and UI and she can understand.

@DarKneT If you actually like the girl and can see a future with her, you shouldn't care what she does and long as she enjoys it.

@KyleSoBold yeah it makes sense, i was afraid if she doesn't understand those things, we might have hard time understanding each other, but then again if we only talk about code it could also get boring in some time

No cons. My wife is a house wife / vet tech. We both like computer games, but programming is very much magic to her.

Honestly, you don't want to be clones of each other, it is good to have varied interests that you can share with your spouse.

The only plus I can think of is perhaps working on the same hobby projects at home.
