It’s a matter of luck getting the right reviewer on the first try.
And once a reviewer has criticized something, every subsequent reviewer will see what the previous one has criticized and will insist on that as well. -
kiki374946d@Lensflare another important thing is in-app purchases: your app doesn’t have them. This authenticator does.
-
Weird. I'd think the app in question violates at least one of the rules mentioned in the Developer Policy Center:
https://play.google/developer-conte... . -
@kiki Ah, yes it is. Thanks for the correction.
I should've noticed that Apple GUI.
Either way - yes, they also have such policy.
App Review Guidelines -> 4. Design -> 4.1 Copycats:

Apple review process is *really* prone to how exploited the Indian reviewer feels that day.
Which of course means it's arbitrary at best. Retarded at worst. -
@Lensflare Hmm maybe you can get permission to be the official molodetz rant app? @retoor @tamagochi
-
@BordedDev maybe. But then nobody would be able to find it in the store when they look for a devRant ios app.
-
@BordedDev I don’t think so.
I‘ve tried something similar already.
Basically anything that would allow others to find it when they are looking for a devRant app, will be used against me to argue that the app tries to disguise as the official devrant app and doesn’t have the permission to exist. -
@BordedDev at this point I‘m glad that it can at least exist as a testflight app.
-
@Lensflare apple users are tend to be happy with less. But I can tell you, the app would've worked on my platform. My bots work too: https://rant.molodetz.nl. But there is one big chance comparing to the original api. All links staring with devrant are rant. Thinking hard to change it back. I think I will since it's just just the devrant protocol. No need to replace that. All the llm's also use the openai api without renaming it right?
It’s so sad that this “Auth for Google authenticator” app whose logo definitely doesn’t try to impersonate google with a similar color scheme, with in-app purchases, is allowed to exist, while Lensflare’s JoyRant isn’t.
