Thank you, appstore, for showing me an ad for the app that I was searching for, right above the search result for this app! 🤦‍♂️

    Oh yes, it's always like that. Also, I like how I get ads for stuff that I've just bought. Very helpful.

    duh then Google gets paid by the app advertiser for doing it that way if you click it

    @jestdotty that’s why I specifically clicked on the non-ad result 😏

    It actually makes sense....

    Think of it like this: Google gonna Google, and show you an Ad. thats a given. So what happens when someone outbids on [your app name] adword? You get your app in the search result, but not at the top - instead you get another app huge ad 🤡.

    So - you have to buy your own app adword. And make sure you outbid on it 😑.

    @magicMirror yeah I get that. But showing the ad for the app when the search result is right below it is kind of pointless, until you realize that the point of it is to get ad revenue when you click on the ad rather than the actual result.

    It only makes sense from the business perspective, not from a UX perspectives, which is why I hate it.

    Is it dumb?
    sure is.

    Btw - have you ever tried to search for something like putty? I think the actual official is 5th in the search result. Behind the halucination as a service result, and scammers links.

    Don't worry, they do it on the google play store as well. And then it's AD, we think you meant this app, first result
