wisdom is applied knowledge

which means useless facts are not wise. they're not helpful. they're also probably wrong. does your life get better by them? it's like hoarding. you have all this junk but you cannot can't do nothing

and this includes helping loved ones
and we as a society just uphold this as some virtue of the intellectual class. and then wonder why everybody feels alone, social media explodes, everybody is disjointed and fighting from their echo chambers, and nothing works, everybody cons each other as if they're starving animals... it's what we valued

Facts are true by definition. If a fact was wrong, we wouldn’t call it fact.

You never know what knowledge is useful and what is useless.
Some day seemingly useless knowledge can become useful.
And seemingly useful knowledge can turn out completely useless.

@Lensflare you figure it out by testing it, aka applying it
  • 1
@jestdotty it’s not like you can delete unwanted knowledge from your brain anyway.

@Lensflare I asked about forgetting things in a different rant and you said it was impossible not to forget things as well...

    @jestdotty ???

Forgetting things and selectively deleting specific knowledge at will are two completely different things.

Am I talking to an alien right now?

@Lensflare Well it's possible, it will just go with some other memories as well

@Lensflare you program computers yet never question to program yourself..

    > 'useless facts are not wise. they're not helpful.'

Yup. Personally I consider most of things under that term as garbage info.

My brain is already filled w/ too much of that thing. As such I'm very selective regarding what I consider worth remembering.

@jestdotty oh, look! Someone claims to be able to program herself!
Let me guess, another one of your ideas and the government tries to hide it from the people?

You know what is really useless? Ideas like this one.
How do you know? You apply it and you test it. Your own logic.

@Lensflare is the government trying to hide it? well since you don't know about it maybe

it's just introspection or meditation. self awareness. knowing the reasons behind things and what you value offers one a lot of power over themselves

@jestdotty or you are just contenting yourself by thinking that you gain any knowledge by meditating and thinking really hard. Autosuggestion can be very powerful.
  • 0
@Lensflare I mean you're the one admitting autosuggestion works... @_@

@jestdotty as longs as you are aware of the difference between the process of how to actually gain knowledge, that‘s not a problem.
