Don't be so pessimistic. I think the "its impossible to find a job" videos are mostly just click/ragebait.
Any competent dev will find a job. It's definitely not the 2020 boom where every idiot got a 6 figure salary DEI job, but it's really not that bad
AI isn't gonna replace anyone. Remember when they told us GPT5 will be almost AGI? Yeah turns out it's worse than GPT4.5
I think we are in a weird bubble where managers *think* they can replace people with AI but that bubble is already popping. Some companies (Salesforce I think?) that went all in on AI have already retreated and rehired people to clean up the mess -
"dance monkey dance" is your role as a youtuber ;P
Now to read the rest of the rant
AFAIK news channels grow quickly but don't have staying power. AI is role compression, need less people to do a thing, therefore more efficient, like the printing press. I think within 2-3 years most "intro" jobs will be completely doable with AI, which might feel like job loss but what actually is a shift, a "junior" will be expected to have higher output just like everyone else in the chain. So the highly skilled job just had it skill requirements increased -
I've been mostly retired for the last several years and just this past month I've had two old clients call looking for someone to fix the pile of crap they paid too much to have vibe coded.
Give it a couple years for the suits get tired of throwing money down the vibe well and there will be tons of work fixing all the crap AI wranglers shat out. -
jestdotty649350mAI usage is going down: https://youtube.com/watch/...
AI companies gonna collapse like a ponzi scheme: https://youtube.com/watch/... -
JsonBoa306814mCan't you just use AI to make videos? Just so that the crappy click bait crowd gets crowded out. That makes longer, well though videos the high value premium content. This is the Time Warner channels / HBO strategy.
Seriously, dump so much free crappy shit people will actually pay to see you perform. Just look at Nebula.
Oh, shit. I just realized it means there will be content miners out there looking for nuggets of non-crappy content into oceans of AI-generated sameness. The future is fucked.
Excuse me while I go crazy with this rant.
I just don't understand what my role is as YouTuber anymore. What am I here for? Just someone who tries to milk the unemployment crisis and freak my viewers out?
I don't wish to be that kind of creator.
Jobs are a big part of me to talk about. But are there any anymore? Companies are forking over billions and billions of dollars onto AI data-centers. Who will get hired, construction people?
What's there to do anymore in tech? Is there a point of telling people that you need "human" engineers? Companies are already brain-washed into thinking that AI is the way forward.
Even if I put in months of work into building my own product, what chances do I have standing against people who will "vibe code" the same product, in a weekend, built with full of security loopholes, and parade it around as AI-first company? I don't have a shot anymore against them, do I?
Do I just become another "tech news" channel that covers every single thing happening with tech? I never wished to be that guy.
People used to say "Ai won't replace you, but someone using Ai will." Guess what, those people aren't finding jobs either.
What's the point of me talking about how to get jobs when there aren't any?
I've never felt this defeated before. I thought I could just get sponsorships and make money, but what's the point of that if I can't get people worthy content to enjoy?
It's just so over man.... I just want to die at this point.
Thank you for reading my rant. My chest feels lighter now.
