I miss grooveshark

had radios people voted on the next song. a chat that was filled with programmers that just wanted tunes during their workday. those were the days

now it's either Spotify or defunct if it's anything similar to that

Ah yes, I also love the "here are the same 20 songs" moderns systems, I used to use pandora. It was very nice, but I guess becaise of the spotify competition they have the same issue

Fuck that. I hate most of the music that others like.
And the others hate my music.
Just listen to your music with headphones and everybody is happy.

@Lensflare I haven't added new music in years though. I want novelty

I keep a 512GB microsd card in my phone with all my music. I have ~300GB that I've collected for two decades, in all formats (mp3, ogg, wma .. and all the new stuff is always FLAC)

I use SoundHound on my phone to tag music I hear out-and-about, and every once in a while I look up all those songs and pirate the full CDs and add them to my collection.

There's always FunkWhale if you want music from the fediverse.

Buuut if I told you there are websites and apps that have this functionality would you actually use them? Or would it be a ”nah the vibe can’t be recreated”

Spotify is dog shit. I use Tidal, though, slightly better.

I still use the old Winamp, what a great piece of software.

A musician friend of mine sends me her MP3s before she makes them publicly available so I have a private playlist I listen to sometimes with all of her stuff.

@djsumdog wauw, a sound hound user. Most people use Shazam. I got sound hound before smartphones were a thing, that's how oldschool it is! Can't remember the phone but it was a foldable with media keys when collapsed. I think Sony. I gonna dig.
