Oh really, replit was a thing before AI? I thought that it was an AI platform by design. Hmm.

IA is making people more and more lazy and dumb when the question is programming and developing something. I've also see a system analyst once speaking about how AI could improve our profits ad infinitum and also decrease money spent , time invested and so on. Partially, with mvc and prototypes are good calls, but when we speak in terms of a full software, i can strongly disagree with him.

@whimsical I used it for a project in which we had a Java app with a WebKit interface. We could install all dependencies, and the tests were run on a VM apparently. That VM could be switched on on its own (only a terminal), and we even installed (or discovered?) Firefox to be able to work on the interface without waiting for the whole app to compile on each change to the JS/HTML/CSS. We were 5 people working in real time, we could see the cursors and stuff... it was a dream! It was 2021. Sure it was not super powerful but for academic projects, it was the whole package.
Again, I don't know if this is not still the case, all I'm complaining about (and that got me so mad) is that there appears to be no way of creating a new app without prompting something.

Replit went from a GREAT collaborative coding (/ developing; it had VCS, integration with deployment services...) to a burden of an AI-centric platform???
Horrible! What do you mean I can't set up an environment by myself? And I had to fiddle to find how to see the files, once it stopped "thinking", "trying", "failing" and "reading documentation" to create a simple Python playground I could've got with a couple clicks some years ago. 💀
I don't even want to see what happened to my old projects...
This was the first time the invasiveness of an AI implementation actually got in my way and made me lose more than the seconds it takes to press one or two close buttons.
Having cooled off a little, maybe it still is the great service I remember, but man... heaving to "ask" for a guessing tool to do what I already know how to do exactly... not a good thing.
