I am so tired of people during interviews expecting me to be totally excited about AI.

Don’t get me wrong, I use it… Just when I need. Which means not that often.

And then I get the usual cliché sentences.

“You’d be faster if you were using AI more”

Alright then. Outpace me with your AI.

“AI won’t replace you but a developer using it will”

Can’t wait to see that. For now, I just loose time on reviews of vibecoded crap.

Really, it was fun at the beginning, we all had hopes with those tools, but right now, it’s annoying and they didn’t deliver. So I’ll keep using it when I need it and ONLY when I need it.

always with the weird unsolicited advice, eh

OMG you'd be faster if you made AI write the code (and then spent several hours doing the review and cleaning it up ;P)

He will not just outpace you, he'll DESTROY you :).

It's not AI's fault that it's used wrong that much.

We don't need Artificial Idiocy. There are enough idiots in the world anyway.

@whimsical no, It's OpenAIs fault for lying about the capabilities and convincing people it can do what it cannot. You're right

For what it's worth. If you treat a decent AI like it's a junior dev that needs to be reviewed and monitored constantly, it's pretty impressive what it can get done.

@Hazarth but what can't it do?

@TerriToniAX What about Advanced Idiocy? Or Automated Incompetence?

    @whimsical

They’ll destroy my peace of mind for sure.

Besides, I am using AI, just not to the extent of what non-coders expect because when it makes me loose time I don’t use it.

I figured it to be simple:

Anyone who really thinks AI can do anything you throw at it more efficiently than a human being, without trying to understand the use case in the first place and to apply some scientific rigor before assuming anything, is basically a moron.

And yes, it does not matter if they are an influencer, a developer, a manager, an architect, a CEO or a VP. They are still morons, because they don't understand what they are doing... or maybe scammers.

It's like the people who used to claim they were crypto market specialists investors.
