I played a mod one time that created an entire portal type game experience (minus portal gun) to escape a lab underground in HL2. You had to solve puzzles and the computer promised to let you go, but you could tell it was trying to kill you. Eventually you had to destroy the computer to escape.

When you got out you came through the same door at the beginning of HL2. Except this time you were armed to the teeth. It was so satisfying to destroy those early guards in the game.
