Got a new job around 6months ago. At my old job, I did controls (which was mostly logic and device drivers) and we couldn’t pay for cursor/claude so I had never really used those tools. At my new job, everyone uses them and my boss is a power user. I now only do math too which is interesting.

I hate the LLM tools. I can’t learn the math from them, and their code is shit.

I hate that I mostly write PRDs and requirements files for the LLM to do for me.

Their output depends a lot on input. Key is not to let them make decisions.

It's better to step up and master it than avoid it. Prompting can be very challenging to get exactly what you want, you have to think out huge parts up front, every mistake is deadly.

I would just use VScode, but I keep taking the easy way out

I keep using AI right now to look up a game's mechanics and it becomes very apparent how much AI bullshits because every time I ask any question it just assumes it's dwarf fortress or rimworld or just outright makes mechanics (or stats) that sound plausible

with every message I ever send it I have to ask it to cite sources

thing is search websites "stopped working" around the time AI got released. so now instead of typing in a search URL or clicking a bookmark I need to write in text "look up sources and only use them". sigh

(though for this game documentation is just non-existent and I'm too lazy to browser reddit and steam forums where someone did at some point figure out the mechanic. actually the whole game's source code is on GitHub... doubt AI could read it and infer the mechanics though, I tried to get it to be a search engine for 8 duplicate codebases of mine before and that was a disaster)

make AI better pls. ofc they won't. its just there for anti-human elite politics🤷
