I'm the opposite. I'll have a white themed IDE with the brightness turned right down any day.

Fabian10136y@AlmondSauce Then how do you see anything? The more contrast, the more you see. So if you have a bright background, you need to turn down the contrast to not be blinded* and then it's harder to read something.
*I almost wrote "blended", because in German it's "blenden"="to blind", but then I remembered that that would mean being put into a blender. -
@Fabian Yup, I also turn the contrast down so as not to be blinded. I have no problem reading off a monitor like this, and I find it much easier on my eyes than a really contrasty dark theme. I used to get regular headaches when using computers - configuring my monitor like this has caused those to go away, and I've been using it like this for over a decade now.
It also has the advantage that I don't get blinded whenever I switch from my IDE to any other application that doesn't support a dark theme. -
Fabian10136y@AlmondSauce Contrast doesn't blind, brightness does. Also, the ultimate dark theme: Make everything light themed, then use something like the "Win+I inverts window" extension on Debian for everything. The only problem is that everything looks sh*t.
-
@Fabian Yeah, that just makes everything look terrible, and makes some content downright impossible to read.
Contrast doesn't blind in theory, but in practice it also implies a level of brightness on most monitors I've used. I usually have to have both contrast and brightness turned down for it to be comfortable.
