Oh my fucking god spotify is SOOOOO trash for free users!!!
I don't mind ads, I don't mind not being able to download.

BUT, it won't let me freaking repeat a single song!
AND, it automatically adds random music to my playlist while listening to it!!!!!!!

Apparently, it has a "feature" (cough limitation cough) that if you are a free user, your playlist must contain at least 15 songs or they will randomly add songs WHILE you are listening to your bloody playlist!!!!

I was so hyped about spotify finally being in India, now I am more disappointed than it not being at all 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑

Edit: This is about spotify android, the desktop (mac for me) version works just fine 😑😑🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

    Different strokes I suppose. I personally LOVE when it stuffs random music into my queue because that's the only time I get to really find new to me artists 😂

    You have to think of the free version as a radio station. It plays what ever it likes and you don’t get a rewind button.

    I gave up and paid for premium since I use it atleast 10hours a week and the ads are infuriating at that point.

    @C0D4 I totally forgot I don't have the free version because I'm just free loading on someone else's family account 😂 i don't understand people who can live with the ads, that sounds horrible. I feel like even on my fairly tight budget I'd prioritize a Spotify subscription (if I wasn't a spoiled brat) because there's just no way I could live without it. So much quality of life in a not that expensive service.

    @Elyz I'd be fucked without it because I've got the student discount that comes with Hulu and a few other streaming services.

    Without it, I'd have no music or TV lol

    @Stuxnet I don't watch TV so I don't know about that (do watch Netflix though, also freeloading on that, lol) but yay for student discounts! How much do you pay per month total?

    I'm disappointed too but that's their strategy so that you will avail their premium account since most users are using their mobile app too.

    Desktop app has no issue at all. It's good while you are working from home or office.

    Agreed, the free version of Spotify is so annoying I went back to carrying my music collection on SD card. 😂

    And on another note, they’re also a shitty company for artists.

    Them, google and amazon are all contesting a recent ruling to raise the revenue share to musicians from streaming.

    Apple are the only ones to not be contesting it.

    Also the ads are always Spotify ads. When I had free version, I ONLY got ads about Spotify. Maybe once or twice I heard an actual ad.

    @Elyz lol i prefer repeating the playlist when the queue runs out of songs 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️😂 i would even repeat a single song, but i believe free does not have that feature 😅, and, i can live with ads a bit. they r annoying, yes, but i can't pay for premium right now so... 🤷🏻‍♂️

    @Stuxnet it's a new playlist that I am creating and i love to hear its songs on repeat 😁😁

    @C0D4 yea... at some point i'd probably get premium too... but this was so disappointing 😞, i do use it like 10-15 hours a week myself 😅😅

    @Root i know right! it was so mind boggling to me that they disabled such important facilities on free version lol. Other than that, mobile version actually works just fine for me 😁

    It's wierd, but I can do all those with free account. It's only ads per time or tracks skipped.

    Doesn't the mobile version prevent you from listening to specific songs, and only allow playing playlists on shuffle? That was my experience before.

    @beleg 8.4.95.785 is mine (newer than urs) i think i should get ur version 🤔. they did move these buttons to the three dot menu on the top, but for me, it seems to be removed 😑😑

    @Root i can play specific songs alright, but yea, can't find shuffle for me 🤷🏻‍♂️
    and if u don't use spotify, what do u use?

    @Electrux would recommend you go for a premium music service instead of a free one anyway (I mean it's Spotify free after all).

    I use Apple Music, that's 190 rupees for the family pack (of up to six), definitely worth it.

    @Electrux Amazon? If you have Prime you have access to their music too, and there are easy ways with like Airtel recharges and stuff to get Prime pretty cheaply.

    Connected Spotify with internet speaker so that I can use my phone as a remote. Profit

    Also Ilike the random songs, I found some really good songs I still listen to this day

    The inability to download music is very frustrating. Especially when you go far out of town, where the connection is poor, that's where the ability to download music to the phone is indispensable. This question, Where can I find free music for small commercials? So that it was copyright free.

    Have you tried looking for copyright-free music services? There are more and more of them in the last few years. Of inexpensive services you can use this one with copyright free music https://inaudio.org/ there is a lot of music, enough for any task, the download is possible after registration, the subscription to the service is not very expensive. It's literally up to $20. But it's a one-month subscription. I hope you can download everything you need in a month. If not, then my subscription to unlimited use of about $100. Music is updated regularly. I occasionally use this service when I need neutral music for a presentation.
