Dad: why are you doing IT after I put you through business school

Me: because you're the one that nagged me not to do it instead CS.... So now I'm stuck in IT... Because I can't seem to understand Big O and algorithms needed to pass a technical interview...

*nagged me to do Finance instead of CS

Just saw the typo after waking up... And it's now Monday

One more thing, I swear business school kills brain cells... I remember in one of the courses the prof was like: "this concept (I think it was some formula that had a derivative) is very difficult so don't worry if you don't understand it. You'll never need to remember it"

Im a bachelor of Economics due to advice of parents... I know where you are coming from. Now I am doing MSc in (50% computer) Advanced Analytics. Regardless, even if I did a CS degree, I think there's always hard work to be done outside university to become good at what you want to do. For instance, game development. Or machine learning in my specific case.

@honeyBadgerJeff true but I think I have the "outside part" just not the algorithms and Big O part they like asking about in tech interviews... I'm slowly picking it up but I have other things now that I'm out of college and the uncertain probability of success makes the discount factor is very high due and NPV relatively low...

Net Present Value, what a gem from the past! I'd say, dont reduce yourself to numbers the finance people we despise see on their spredsheets🤓. Just make it count, the risk of default or locking down success is only up to you, right? 😋

@@honeyBadgerJeff well there are external factors beyond my control unless I magically become famous and highly desirable.

Was just reading this, this morning and actually also read his book. Hard work nowadays is usually not enough, it takes some luck, connections, getting noticed by the right ppl.
