On the other hand, next.js is freaking awesome. Pair it with Zeit Now and you'll feel like a God.

asgs112796ySo, is there going to be a MENN stack now? Or all of that is already accommodated by next.js?
-
Actually, you did learn a whole lot today, and you will make much better tech decisions for a new future project. Once bitten, twice shy.

See this is why I’m skeptical of JavaScript stacks my company has old systems which have been running for decades on the same stacks that are still supported by the open source community. JavaScript stacks seem to last a week before they’re deprecated.
Maybe I’m being unfair... -
xonya50816y@norman70688 Old? Something that was born 3 years ago? I'm glad that my experience is mostly about the 16 years old Spring Framework and that it still resists better than all this JS stuff.

xonya50816y@norman70688 The last sentence on the post says "more than three years". You are right that Node is not "new", but I referred to the "MERN stack" as a single concept. In any case I found this depressing because I feel I'm not able to keep up with the new technologies. I was just trying to learn something "new", because I work mostly on backend (Java) and my JS experience is basically ES5 and I know I need to learn some new stuff to survive in this industry.

xonya50816y@norman70688 Yeah, you are right. I can still work with these technologies. I was probably just a bit shocked by the message on the site, since I consulted it two days before thinking that it was "new stuff".

tommy15Right now someone at Google is coding something useless for us to laugh at on April Fools.
I had just started learning the MERN stack and they deprecated it yesterday. Perfect timing, as usual.
