Does your company allow you to bring your own devices?

If so, dou have a choice on which programs/operating system gets installed?
If not, for which security reasons?

I can use my own phone and have a macbook from work on which I dual booted ubuntu. As long as you encrypt your keys my boss is fine with it :)

Company provides pc or laptop - i took a laptop.
It's domain locked, but I can install anything I want or "need".

No, because of centralized administration and ISO certification.
But I can install everything I need.

Honestly, I do not understand BYOD. It boils down to responsibility, investment and administration shift from the company to the employee. Ergo less costs for the company, more hassle for the employee.

I like to keep work and life separated :)

We have byod with wifi APs linked to a separate VLAN. Very handy. Since an employee spends at least half his time at tjhe office it would be unfair and unhealthy to keep him disconnected from personal life all the time. Skype, fb, etc on work computer might be a security risk, hence the separate vlan.

On my work computer I was supplied with I have Linux Mint installed [dual booting w/ win10 that was already in there and is linked to AD; just in case] on a LUKS drive. I can install any sw I like. IT admin only knows how to support Windows and a little bit about MACs, so I was told if I go w/ linux -- I'm on my own. That's fine w/ me. Have already onboarded a couple more fellow penguins since.
