Konsole31225y@11000100111000 Yes they do. The default themes that come installed play a big role. I know I can install KDE and breath in any other distro, but I would rather have it pre installed. Plus Manjaro devs make many specific changes to KDE that you won't get if you installed directly.
And Manjaro devs made the breath theme, so yes, looks are related to distro -
@Haxk20 man this is why people make fun of/dislike Arch users. The ammount of elitism and condescension is heavy on your post and I know you are normally a really chill dude here on devrant.
Manjaro is a great distro for people to see the good parts of an Arch based system. Maybe eventually op will make the full change and go Arch. If for right now he likes the look and feel of Manjaro's preconfigured KDE then lets instead recommend to him the bleeding edge side of a pure Arch distro whilst at the same time being able to port and enhance the KDE theming that he liked.
We *can* recommend stuff to others without making it sound all nasty. -
@AleCx04 ok, @Haxk20 did sidetrack a bit from thread, that is a bit rude.
but is he wrong though? he's not exclusively saying use arch. he's also saying prefer antergos to manjaro.
This year I had at least 3 problem situations when doing pacman -Syu in manjaro, so even though I haven't tried antergos yet, I feel I agree with him at some level. -
@jesustricks read my comment again and pinpoint where I mentioned him being wrong. If anything, the only thing I did was to find a different way to make the recommendations without being nasty.

Konsole31225y@Haxk20 Arch might be better but I couldn't get it installed. I simply couldn't get the Nvidia drivers installed in Arch. Not to say it was piece of cake in Manjaro but I was able to do it.
The only reason I left Kubuntu is because I wanted latest release of plasmashell. Thus Manjaro suits those needs.
And you say Manjaro packages are more unstable than Arch, but ol everyone seems to disagree. Maybe if you are an advanced user, it may feel like that to you, but to me, Manjaro packages seem more stable than Arch.
For me Manjaro is all the good things in Arch without all the hassles.
And I know that I can install any DE and theme in any OS but I like the pre configured setup of Manjaro KDE. I simply don't want to install KDE in Arch (or anywhere else) and then spend time in searching what specific changes Manjaro devs made to KDE.
Plus the breath theme and icons were made by Manjaro devs for Manjaro. So I would rather use it on Manjaro only. Credit where it's due. -
Konsole31225y@Haxk20 Your DE looks much better to you. I personally hate the look and feel of Gnome.
What it better is personal choice. -
@AleCx04 makes sense, but by saying he's being an elitist in his post you're accidentally raising skepticism about the reliability of the info he provided eg what he saying could be interpreted as the ramblings of an elitist

@xkill
> everyone seems to disagree
what? I literally said i had problems with manjaro too, just check the manjaro forums.
if you didn't have any issues with it, fine, but a lot of users did which allegedly doesn't with arch or antergos
you're not even addressing antergos, Haxk20 is at least like "pick antergos over manjaro".
i think though he is kind of oblivious if he expects the arch experience to be a feasible thing to every user. it's not that easy.
im agree with the other things you said.
im a manjaro user btw. -
@jesustricks it would risk skepticism if people stop reading there or if I would discredit what he says, which I did not. I referred back to his expertise on it to give counsel.
I am not in charge of the reading comprehension of this declining community, nor do my posts have to catter to their specifics. If people read the entire thing properly they will get it. -
Konsole31225y@rynken nope. The reviews for neon are pretty bad. They have somehow managed to make a stable Ubuntu core unstable.
Plus I wanted to give Arch a try and Manjaro seemed a good place to start.
Eventually I will move on to pure Arch

After 3 months of using it, Manjaro KDE has become my new love.
Just purchased a new machine. Installed it as primary OS.
Not only is it faster than Ubuntu, it looks gorgeous.
