And. Intel has become retarded with the whole skylake x kabylake x generation. And is way cheaper and far better in most ways
-
AMD, because its price-performance ratio is waaay better, it doesn't stand in anything behind Intel for years now and it is the much nicer company regarding open source, open standards, knowledge sharing and collaboration with software producers (e.g. regarding Linux).
-
AMD didn't lie multiple times last year on stage like Intel did, also some of their Ryzens are really good deals. I'd say the choice is pretty clear.

I would say that AMD will do just fine. I've bought Ryzen5 2600x (6x3.6Ghz) and when I try to go with modern games at 4k and ultra then GPU is bottleneck, not CPU. It might be different for games like Civilization or Stellaris with AI and other non-graphical calculations creating most of the load.

potata14776yCurrently I have a ryzen 2600x cpu and a GF 1060 combination.
What can I say about it? Well. It works.
I use it personally for 1080p/4k gaming and the only drawback that I saw is that I opted for 8GB of ram due to it not actually going for gaming. Rather a home PC. Add another 8GB and you can run... anything. Most of the games run really good.
Now, the pc isn't just used for gaming - my wife uses it for digital art/3D rendering - there weren't any issues too.
Now for comparison: This pc was 650eur (pre-build by trusted local shop) while any intel pc with an i5 was around 800eur. So price - won. Performance? I've used both for similar tasks (they let us try) - it was not noticeable for my needs. So all in all, I don't think that AMD is bad anymore.
Used amd/intel before - they both suck compared to what is on the marked now. -
@sSam as far ad gpus go, amd is dominating. The only thing i dont think works right is the vega gpus in some ryzen models
-
@sSam intel """"gpus""""
Yes their igpus work so what. The only use case for those is severely underpowered laptops -
sSam14836y@fuck2code you are the one who mentioned gpus. If you don't like comparing them to intel igpus (they are still gpus, that are interacted with through the same api), why bring it up then? Are you comparing it to nVidia? There's no mention in the post about nVidia at all.
