Out of curiosity, how many years of PROFESSIONAL experience do people have on here. I’m assuming it’s quite diverse but skewed towards those at junior to mid-level for some reason. Just put a number down. I’ll start.

    If I pay myself to make a website does that count?

    0.2 😁

    @1337M0nst3r hold on let me check the rule book.......
    .....
    ....
    It’s contentious.
    As long as it serves a business purpose (not job seeking), or it supports/contributes/is an open source project, or is for a charity or educational purposes. I would considerthose edits not ‘personal’ projects. There could be others, it’s not an exhaustive list.

    If i can count my 3 years apprenticeship it would be 6 otherwise just 3 years.
  • 1
    @Tokimimo I would count it! Don't devalue your apprentice years, Unless you sat there and did fuck all for 3 years.
  • 1
    @-AJ- I definitely did so many cool stuff there :D And even some applications still used to this day :)

    32, 33 if you include teaching:)

    @Voxera Wow, we have a winner. Unless you count @fuck2code who has an unfair advantage since he was born in prehistoric times.
  • 1
    @-AJ- 2 years of experience it is then! Also, I owe myself lots of money

    @1337M0nst3r 👍

    I don’t know how the word ‘edits’ snuck into my other comment. 😆
  • 1
    @-AJ- i just assumed you meant projects :)
  • 1
    @1337M0nst3r yeah that would also work, but my intention was not having the word there at all. Whatever, I know you knew what I meant and I knew you’d know it was a typo.

    In those 2 years, were you your only client??

    @-AJ- people here think Facebook represents the Internet in the literal sense, even the idea of a website is completely inexistent. I can't think of something people on a ~80km radius would have to do with anything programming related.

    @1337M0nst3r I smell business opportunities mate!

    7. I started really late.

    @-AJ- hey most deities are younger than me so i think i have an unfair advantage. I wish i would've gotten to ride a t rex though. If only my mother was pregnant in middle school mayne i would have witnesses the great dino war. Apparently their meat is really good though. Or so says my grandmother. I wouldn't know.

    @telephantasm so did I. I’m not judging. In fact I would have had no idea if you didn’t say anything.

    @fuck2code you’ve still had it better than most of us. If you bought even a tiny fraction of a bitcoin when you were say 20, you would probably own the universe by now. Also why didn’t you get in to the whole empire thing back when there still was land to discover or steal. These are some pretty basic business suggestions, I’d have to question your decision making unless you have a really good back story which explains all this.........

    @-AJ- But it matters only if you're old like me. I turned 30 a couple of months ago. I started , professionally, at 22. The younger guys here started at 12 or so. Some are still in high school.

    @telephantasm 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

    @telephantasm you’ve got to be kidding me if you think 22 is starting late. Sure some people start early teen years, many around 16, but 22 by no means in the late category, at least not in my opinion.

    @telephantasm I only started uni when I was 21!!!! Started coding when I was 27/28. I don’t feel like age is an issue. It’s the mindset, the skills you have, and weather or not you enjoy it (at least at first) that will determine how well you do.

    @-AJ- bitcoin is shit. I sell ancient artifacts. And Dino bones. If you want a good backstory, i'm the worlds first murderer, and my curse is to live forever.

    @fuck2code daaamn son! Who did you have to fuck to get that done to you, oh wait did you fuck ‘2code’. It’s all making sense now.

    @M1sf3t 20 cows
    @-AJ- why yes of course, i use my attractive characteristics for professional gain

    @M1sf3t 30 chickens are like 50 $ so no. If you give me a parrot though. I've always wanted to be a pirate.
