Does every m2 socket support nvme?

I replaced the ssd in my hd notebook with a nvme one and it doesn't seem to recognize it..

    M2 is a size.
    Sockets can support PCIe/NVMe or SATA.

    @Jilano now I know more.

    But as this article states, if you got 2 notches it's SATA. Both, the old one and the new ssd got 2 notches. But all over the wrapping of the new ssd there is "nvme" written, not a word about SATA.

    @sbiewald Just learned that.

    So to ask again: is SATA/nvme compatible?
    Or to make it easier: how to find out if my HP Notebook 15 ba077-ng supports my new drive and how to get it to work?:D

    @nitwhiz googles a good start. You even formed the correct question so all you have to do is copy and paste

    @Jilano the last page of that helped a bit but how do you disable a hdd?

    especially this whole B/M connector thing is confusing. Because if that's the criteria it should work just fine.
