vane112805yI am contractor, working from home - currently for one client as I have big side project in progress.
Is it worth it ?
As with everything, depends on client and how lucky you are.
If you’re lucky and get good client(s) you gain a lot of freedom, money and you can even think of hiring someone, make business with people you meet or like me right now try to do side projects to make your own path, of course it comes with much more responsibility.
If you’re unlucky you get a lot of work and shitty money that is not paid on time and government don’t care if you got paid to pay taxes or not.
I am not sure about what I will write right now but I think the best way to start from scratch and be lucky is to pick one project from some foundation or github that is heavily used by some corporations and try to contribute to it, then simply ask some maintainers - as you get to know each other if they offer some paid job. ( I was lucky enough I did not have to do it .... for now ). -
I am also interested on freelancer. As I have another background/experience and basically do not know anyone that could jump start me on a company, it will be probably easier to start freelancer.
