I ordered a second hand mini laptop. (Mini as in 8 inch)

Now I obviously will put some kind of Linux distro onto it but I'm wondering which one I should choose.

Debian based is a must, except for that I don't know yet.

Ideas?

@RantSomeWhere Nope haha. Not familiar enough with it and I just need something I know right now ;)

Smh why downgrade from Windows (assuming that's what's on it unless you're buying it from another tech guy)? 😏😂

What's the laptop's usage gonna be?

@Jilano How's the hardware compatibility and package management on that distro?

@Stuxnet Pretty much will act as a device I've got with me at all times so from programming to server management to watching movies and gaming sometimes...

Hm depends on the hardware specs I guess. I got Puppy Linux running pretty smoothly on my friends 13-year-old Laptop he wanted to throw away (all he does is some office work and casually browsing the Internet).

PopOs seems popular, or perhaps Mint?

    Bunsenlabs, or just Debian.

    Xubuntu/Linux Lite?

Bohdi Linux if you just need web and terminal.

@RememberMe xubuntu is the way to go, or pure debian. One of the two

    Alpine Linux?

Lubuntu is a nice option, or Linux Mint LXDE

Linux MX is a Debian based small distro. Similar philosophy to arch (no bloatware) but without the instability of rolling releases. Plus it's Debian so you get access to apt-get :)

Ubuntu 18.04 minimal is always my "I need this to run Linux" distro.

    Obsessing over Manjaro i3.

If you prefer debian flavors, and the machine itself will be relatively underpowered, then I don't see any reason to run anything but debian. I would recommend however that you do not run a display manager, and launch X with xinit/startx instead.
