    @kescherRant "we have high code review standarts here at google"

    Speaking of, have you seen the new YouTube's ToS?
  • 3
    @Jilano nope, tell me more?!
    did not recieve an email of updated terms here in germany
  • 2
    @Jilano According to the email, nothing actually changed, they just made everything clearer. Though I didn't bother to check because I don't use their services anymore (at least not directly; thanks, tizonia!) so I don't care very much.

    What did you find?

    @Root That might very well be true. I can't say that I remember how it was before.

    @ScaryException

    Here's the important part:

    “YouTube may terminate your access, or your Google account’s access to all or part of the Service if YouTube believes, in its sole discretion, that provision of the Service to you is no longer commercially viable.”

    @Jilano so... if you don't bring them any revenue, they can lock you out of YouTube? Interesting

    @ScaryException Neat, so adblockers, then. And tizonia. And scrapers. And any content producers whose videos google thinks it cannot advertise on.

    Guess i'm going to get banned pretty quickly.

    @Root well this one kind of makes sense
    "The terms could be a way for YouTube to remove channels that promote hate speech, conspiracy theories, or harmful messages whose content isn’t extreme enough to warrant an outright ban, as these are unlikely to be commercially viable. But if this is the case, it needs to be clearly explained."
  • 2
    @ScaryException @Root That's how I understood it too. Alternative front ends such as Invidio.us might stop working pretty soon.

    Wait & see, I guess

    @ScaryException I do agree with you on that point. But by staying vague, they can abuse and do whatever they want, so...

    Update regarding the ToS:

    'To clarify, the "commercially viable" section is not about terminating an account bc it’s not making money / not in YPP. It’s about discontinuing certain features or parts of the service bc they are outdated or have low usage. This does not impact creators or viewers in new ways.'

    In any case, I find their original sentence very misleading.

    @ScaryException Totally sounds like censorship.

    @Jilano Huh. Really? Well, I suppose Google's censorship isn't anything new.
