I shaved half my beard off. I just had a meeting with a recruiter and he told me I might get problems with upper management (CEOs for example) in Switzerland because they are still very conservative and they'll be interviewing me. Why would that matter!? Either I get the job done or I don't, why the hell does it make a difference if I like to stick out in a crowd with a unique cool beard!?

    @Beatle makes me feel cool.

@theKarlisK I think it took the recruiter a while to notice it too be only told me this at the very end of our Skype meeting.

It's not just about how good or "acceptable" you are right, it's a competition. If they find someone else with a similar skillset who is willing to comply with their tastes, then they'll just go with that dude and not you.

Depends on how big an issue it is, sure, I can't really comment on that because different countries.

This is absolutely hilarious! You made my day, and if I worked with you, you'd make my day everyday you walked in with that gorgeous half beard. xD
    You go man!

Exactly. Why would you do that? It's not symmetrical.

Do you apply at devRant in Switzerland or why else is this tagged with "devrant"?

one part of me is like "if you're a good dev, I don't care if you have a dick protuding outta your forehead"

another part is like "this guy is raising some red flags, exhibiting some possible antisocial signs, maybe a bad hire".

but also "geniuses are eccentric and do things like this sometimes".

but also "some geniuses can be terrible hires".

and also "some people do weird shit that coincidentally some geniuses do, but aren't geniuses".

and as a devrant reader, it increased doubt further because you decided to post here the whole ordeal and a snapshot of your face to the INTERNET.

that falls more on the "bad hire" side than on the "genius" one.

or maybe you're sane, experienced and good coder and doing some experiment on the hire process.

    who tf knows.

Maybe if it was shapely and tidy/manicured? Attention to detail and all. But it just isn't. It look like a mess. 🙁

I would take it all off.

    Okay, now walk backwards.

It would be awesome if you'd manage to only show one side the whole interview and then.. switch to the other side (for second interview or so).

Screw them- a suit or appearance doesn't make anyone 'better'.

Shave right eyebrow also for balance

And have mustache on one side too... maybe nose hair on the other side

@Root this is not shaped? Wtf?

I think it needs to be quite a bit longer for the idea to work better.

You need to make the shave line clearer; it just looks like you're a cancer patient rn

Hire a clown and get ready to watch a circus. This is unprofessional as fuck dude. You look like a huge liability.

Well this styling together with the previous rant about having no idea how to apply for a job suggests that the OP is in for bit of a shock when growing adult.

Also, that the OP still hasn't realised that the world does not turn around him, and that nobody is particularly keen on a bachelor fresher anyway.

I expect future rants like "wah wah why can't I get a job".

Cool half beard, maybe they'll offer you a cool half pay too!

Seriously, take it all off, you don't look half as "cool" as you think you do
