Yeah. I just got a message from my team lead and mentioned this. Fortunately he understood the situation. I may get fired but I prefer that rather than getting a lawsuit in the future.

This isn't that uncommon for a small company or start-up. You have to get shit done for the client, and you have to look like you know how to get shit done. Nobody has the time or money to hire actual experts for every new problem presented by a client. You just gotta hike up your shorts and get in there and do it.
It sucks if they expect you to spend your weekend to ramp up on whatever you're working though - I'd make sure that's an exception and not a rule, or I'd find another job.
Also, something I don't think I've ever seen on devrant before: "I just feel bad for the client" xD -
@jdebs I agree with you that this is standard. But I was not expecting an enterprise level problem with less than a week of training. That is not a standard case. Also, they want expert-level training. How much bullshit can you make? I guess I feel bad for them since I've only been here one week haha. But this requires a pro, not a temporary patch.

@jdebs Plus my background is in backend development and I've been doing it for 8 years. And the job was for Analytics. Something I only know bc I installed a cpl of tags into blogs..

jdebs3365y@nachocode Yeah I hear you man. It's definitely not cool to feel that kind of pressure as the one who is faking it. It all depends on the kind of support you are getting from management - if they are backing you up all the way and just need you to be the guy on the front lines, then I would try not to worry as much. But if they are setting you up to be a scapegoat...beware!

@jdebs Thanks man. Fortunately I have records of being asked abou this so everything is cool in that department. I guess this will be a learned lesson for the future....

I was asked to pretend to be an expert to solve a temporary solution for a client in my company. I agreed because I thought it would be a simple solution.
I was wrong.
They only gave me 4 days to train (Including my f*cking weekend) and the project requires a much more experienced consultant since I'm struggling even with the simplest of tasks. Also, the person who was suppose to help me it's not always available. And they are not actively searching for a new expert.
Today I'll talk to my team lead and the person in charge of the project and let them know that this task will require someone much more experienced.
I may get fired but at least my conscience will be clear.
I just feel bad for the client. They are such nice people.
