I became storage addicted… started with a 240 GB SSD + a 2 TB HDD... two years later added a new 1 TB SSD, a few months later when the HDD died changed it with a 4 TB one… a few days later I bought a 10 TB NAS (80% off on Amazon, too cheap not to buy).

Now I have 15.24 TB and still thinking about changing that 240 GB SSD with a 2 TB one.

I need help.

What do you do with all that storage space?

I got around 20 TB and have to be very conservative with my usage because they're almost full. I am considering to switch to a Gdrive (rsync) setup, but with my slow upload (40 Mbit) it would take weeks to upload everything.

Tbe story seems oddly familiar to mine. At some time I started to use a "NAS" (RPi 3 + 4 TB HDD) to have data that I need often and don't require a lot of I/Os available no matter if my PC is running.

Se months ago I upgraded my NAS to 2x12TB (BTRFS-Raid 1 on RPi 4). I could even swap the HDD and create Raid without any downtime!

Now my PC has roughly 10,5 TB. But effectively 6,5 TB because my old NAS HDD now gives my /home RAID 1.

    Google linus teck tips storenator.

Using a single drive is a bad idea. Better to have a bunch in a raid setup
