Hello everyone,
I've got a somewhat special issue with my setup.
I am running an instance of `lucaslorentz/ caddy-docker-proxy` as proxy that handles certificates and request and proxies them to docker containers that run `abiosoft/caddy:php` to host Laravel based applications. The problem is, that the `abiosoft/caddy` containers do not know it's assigned hostname and thus Laravel's `asset`, `secure_asset` and `url` respectively `secure_url` don't work as they use the internal hostname which would be an IP address and thus requests go to 192.168.240.x instead of example.com.
I am not yet entirely sure where I should tackle this problem and am grateful for every hint.
I am currently also evaluating traefik instead of Caddy-docker-Proxy and Caddys v2 official container instead of abiosoft's Caddy v1 container but I guess, that this wouldn't solve the issue as the container still wouldn't know that it's given Domainname is example.com4 -
I’m currently migrating all my stuff to docker :) working quite well so far but my Webserver (caddy) is driving me crazy10

Aaaaaaaand I’m back after a year of shitty workplaces and horrible projects so stay tuned and stay healthy!4

My last workplace would fit to that tag quite well.
CTO who was also in charge of firing / laying off people is a code nazi that forced everyone to use some absurd code styling. -
bunq, N26 or revolut? I am also a bit sceptical because of brexit - i am sure it would affect revolut. I don't like the pricing of n26 but the metal MasterCard looks sexy and I love the features of bunq.
Not sure which bank I should choose...
Has anyone here got some more info about those three mobile first banks?9 -
Got a great new job, great athmosphere here, great salary and exciting projects :) looking forward to the future here!11

I didn't think that it could be worse than in the companies I've been previously working at (last one was good btw)!but the current company has a code base for a website made in grails with an angular app and no existing developer knows how this site works - and there isn't a single comment in the code either. There isn't any other form of documentation either D:

Once again in my career I am asking myself if I shall risk self employment or go the safe route and work in another company.. :/2

!rant well that was it. Had my last day at work yesterday - let's see what the future has to offer for me :)

Just lost the love of my life. I really thought we were soul mates and now she quit the relationship after a half year. I was even planning my proposal already. I never felt so bad in my life.9

Hello fellow ranters,
Today I wanted to work on a small projeft of mine (companion "app" (website) for a rather popular AR Game) and I just sat in front of my PC for about an hour because I couldn't start coding - i almost felt disgusted by the idea to start to code when I don't have to (e.g. at work) - do you also feel like that sometimes? If so, what do you do against it?4 -
Hello devRant, my old friend....
It's been a while since i've last checked devRant and I am sure a lot of stuff happened since then. Anyway I am back and I might vent some anger on my job soon (yes, I know I originally said that everything is perfect but it seems as if I just was naive enough to think it was)3 -
Why don't people secure their devices if they are on a shared network? I just ran a network scan and found 3 raspberrys, all of them with the default credentials....2

Someone posted a link to a 30-day-security-challenge here on devRant some time ago and I just thought well, why not try to migrate away from the big companies - I've been using OneDrive as my only cloudstorage since the time when it was called SkyDrive and I've been hosting my Emails at outlook (via Live Custom Domains, a service that does not even exist anymore) for about 8 years now. Since I've always been lazy and since exchange activesync is a great feature if you have multiple calendars and want to sync them and your contacts to several devices I never tried to switch but now I am half done with migrating my data to my own nextcloud installation and my emails to my own mail server - since I don't want to loose the exchange functionality I am also setting up Z-Push and oh boy, this thing is bitching around but my webmail is already nicely integrated into nextcloud, IMAP / SMTP is up, configured and secured (still have to mess around with spamassassin as this email adress is floating around the web for about 10 years now). The only things to do is to get Z-Push work with STARTTLS and the card/caldav backend running and then the basic setup should be done.
I am just wondering if someone could hand me over a guide on how to sign / encrypt emails (GPG?) -
Same procedure as every night. I don't know why but I can't sleep at the moment. I went to bed at 9pm today because I was fucking tired and woke up at 11pm again - totally awake and refreshed but I know I will be fucked tomorrow because of not enough sleep... I am actually thinking about doing today's work now instead of in 9 hours.

Fuck this god damn router. Up to now I was really happy with the router/modem my ISP gave me (UPC Connect Box) but today I set up pi-hole on my raspberry and found out that I can't change my fucking routers DNS settings....11

Well I was laid off at my last company with 6 weeks paid holiday at the end of my employment - since one of my hobbies is volunteering at the red cross as paramedic / ambulance driver, I was on duty quite often in those 6 weeks but since this job does not pay well, I had to look for something different and so I did - after those 6 weeks.
I found one quite nice job posting online at 1 am in the morning, sent my application out at 2 am and went to bed as I had a 12 hours shift at that day. I didn't really think that I'd get a reply but at 6 pm I got a call, talked to the guy and he asked me if I could come in the next day and talk to him in person and show him some stuff I did lately. I didn't really have projects to show as most of my previous work was under a NDA and so I just developed a small blog engine to show off (the main thing he wanted to see was my coding style). So I went there at 7:15pm , talked to them and at 10pm I got the contract - I signed the contract about 48 hours after I applied to the job :)2 -
I am wondering how Microsofts fluent design animations would look on webpages - especially all that 'light' stuff - all in all thats basically what Google did with it's material design but in semitransparent.

Wow I really feel with you my dear Java developers.
Since I am working on a Custom Launcher for devCraft I now know how bad gradle is.12 -
I am actually a bit angry that there is no fucking thing to rant about at my new work - no dumb clients, no dumb project managers (I am doing project management with the boss and the company is somewhat startupish) and the project is interesting as well.6
