iamai20045yGood-looking e-bike :) I've always thought of getting an electric bike or motorcycle or bicycle for cheaper work transportation but I only know how to bike in a straight line. I might just die in an hour on two-wheels :D
-
@iamai
They're kind of a trip, but they'll definitely get your to work and back ! -
@iamai
Go for a bicycle and train on any abandoned large area of packed earth or better.
Good training areas are parking lots of (currently) closed shops. -
iamai20045y@Oktokolo once this COVID lockdown is lifted I was planning to buy a bike. Should there be an apocalyptic like event happen, bike skills suddenly feels important.
-
@iamai
A bicycle also has a pretty low cost of ownership. That makes it a convenient low range vehicle outside of a zombicalypse too. -
@Jilano
Initial cost is higher. But should still be pretty negligible when compared to a car. -
@Oktokolo
At least for now, you can bend a lot of the "class 3" laws, and not need to deal with license or insurance issues. If that change, we'll see. I'm just going have fun while it lasts. -
I have an e-scooter, that's a lot smaller and foldable, but also a lot of fun. Not only it's cheaper than rental ones in the long run, it's also always there when I need it.
-
nice bike. I would like to have 1 but I have to travel far away.
How much mileage it gives ? -
Man, I really want one of these. I'm just not sure about the mileage, plus I live on the 3rd floor so I need to be able to remove the battery and charge it separately, and this is the kind of information shops never disclose.
-
@Lor-inc
- bike is 100lbs
- battery detaches with a key
- battery is 11lbs
- range is 45-50 miles with pedal assist in my fairly hilly area -
Bikes are amazing to ride once you get used to them.
Especially hills.
They'll kill you but your thighs will look amazing after a couple weeks and once you've done it for a while you won't even notice the hills. -
I bought an electric bike a year and a half ago. Really fun thing. It's crazy to think if you really wanted to you could get across town, swap batteries, and go home for very little CO2 emissions. Makes for great short trips around town. But I feel safer on my actual motorcycle because I'm more visible and can wear all my gear while only going a little bit faster in the city.
-
It depends on the bicycle infrastructure. Here half the routes don't have bike Lanes and that makes a big difference
-
@Nanos I prefer to hijack psychology and wear a few colors that will make me visible. Red or any color that nature would use to show somethingis toxic like neon green neon teal , orange helps catch attention. That and I ride like I'm invisible
-
@Nanos
unfortunately no amount of lights or devices will remove from the road the subset of people who believe you dont belong there, are sufficiently stupid to be a danger to themselves and others, and dangerously arrogant about their right to drive even at the expense of endangering others, cyclists and other drivers included.
This is typified by my all time favorite song:
"MOVE BITCH, GET OUT THE WAY BITCH! GET OUT THE WAY BITCH! GET OUT THE WAY!" -
Do scooters count?
I wanna buy something like this (its called a jawa bike, old soviet junk) and convert it to electric. -
@Nanos this is also true. Even trying to be visible isn't a guarantee and the brain is a weird thing where it just makes you invisible if you're small. And it's scary. I think lights and colors help though but the best remedy is to use every thing in your disposal. Lights. Some reflective material. Defensive driving. And my favorite: using gas to create some distance and wiggle room.
-
@PyroHornet oops this is about bicycles here I was thinking this was about motorcycles since I ride both 😂
-
Haven’t tried, but I do enjoy my human driven bike. :)
But I’d like to buy an electric moped some day as a compliment. :) -
pranay75-25ythanks Hi, Thank you for sharing such a nice and informative post on your blog I really like it and it gives me good information to keep it up and share more on your blog bluestacks emulator
I'm expecting probably no, but in the name of outdoorsy things not at all related to code, anyone else here enjoy electric bicycles?
Just grabbed this thing and it's absurdly fun, and helps me put some social distance between myself and other riders.
