I'm still wondering what is wrong on my question, or more in general in all my StackOverflow questions, that 95% of the time just receive 14 views and 0 answers. I spend so much time answering and I just do it for the sake of helping other users, but when it's about receiving help back it's just tears

Could be that its a very niche subject. Are there many siri or objective c questions on SO?

Also, my guess is that they keep a very strict check on extra commands since multiple apps might try to add the same commands and even a security question could hide exactly what is happening.

Your question does not show an effort to try anything. Stack Overflow is for improving partially working code, not (at least not much) for pointing you all the way from scratch. Although that depends on the community a bit, some communities (typically those with less volume of posts on their tags) are more forgiving in that regard than others.

The platform isn't what it used to be. SO used to be filled with experts in all sorts of niches who were helpful and willing to tackle niche / challenging problems.

From what I can gather, those experts mainly got fed up that the system was gamified to heavily reward people slapping trivial answers down to easily google-able questions, and so gave up contributing.

I figured that the quality of SO has decreased but I gather it will be a couple years before the owners notice based on falling ad revenue.

@SomeNone the problem is that I can't provide any code :D I know how SO works, but there are cases where everything you can show is that you read the documentation and it didn't help. What kind of snippet should have I included?

@Voxera I expect something like keyboards in android, you just install one and then the app guide you through enabling it

Just focus on the number of views :D

this specific question seems like thw answer is "well... as the documentation already told you, no, there's not"

which would make me personally go and write that answer, and then I would stop myself because I would have a thought that "i don't want to be the asshole captain obvious, plus maybe someone else knows some hacky way to actually do it, i'm not sure, so I better not answer".

but that's this sprcific question. for tue general case... well, imo, SO stopped being useful about 3 years ago, and i get better and faster answers to my questions just by trial and error, and i get better questions just by reading documentation and watching talks, and thinking "wait, so could i use this for xyz? how?"

@Midnight-shcode the problem is that the documentation doesn't say it's impossible, it just doesn't mention it :D

I really spend much time answering questions on StackOverflow, sometimes it happens also to me to just give downvotes or to look a bit asshole. But I think there's a difference between who just ask a question, in place of studying and trying to solve a problem, and who gets stuck and is asking help to get unstuck

Looks like a perfectly valid question, so get your ass outta that dying shithole and ask somewhere else.

Because your question is phrased too subjectively I presume. Getting downvoted in SO doesn't mean you're an idiot.

People misunderstand this very often and bitch about it as if they're experts. But the point of stackoverflow is NOT TO HELP YOU. No one on the community gives a shit about helping you.

The point of stackoverflow is to act as a repository of knowledge. That's why questions require prior effort and need to be very specific. So that future searchers can identify it and use it as a well indexed portion of the knowledge repository for that topic.

If you're ever in doubt, just read the meta thread on how to ask a good SO question. 99% of the time you'll figure out how to phrase it better.

SO is a good community and there's a reason it's the world's largest software QA community, with the best moderation and most number of willing experts. Don't listen to noobs who bitch about how SO is dead or too strict or some shit like that. That's the point. It takes getting used to.

@hashedram In which way my question isn't enough specific, isn't addressing a problem and couldn't be helpful for other users?
