Hehe true, I'm the first kind :P I always hit the win key, type and enter. Works nicely on win 8 and in gnome.

I prefer the first one. Have many of the second type at work. It's amazing but they find the files they are looking for.. When I suggest that they create one folder and dump it all in it, the answer is "I won't find any of the files" It's probably a visual memory thing.

This one guy complained that he needs a bigger monitor to fit all of his desktop items. =D

I disable desktop icons on all my machines

I have some desktop icons, but I immediately move recycle bin to the lower right corner and then keep it to about 2 rows. Mainly just apps that add them themselves.

I like my desktop clean.

I think I'm a 1.5 then, I don't even have the recycling bin :b

When I use Windows I also rearrange the Start menu into accessories, applications, games, devices, removing unnecessary icons for readme files and uninstallers and groups with only one thing in.

I have everything hidden by default on my desktop. the dock is hidden on desktop and the top bar is transparent. (gnome3)
