I agree, you cannot compare a Mac with a £600 laptop. However, as you hint, Apple gear is overpriced, and you can get a comparable computer for, maybe not £600, but around the price of a Mac.

Sorry, in my last comment I meant to write "but around HALF the price of a Mac." My last laptop was hardware-wise comparable with a MBP, but the price was around half, £1100, plus I had to buy a £100 SSD.

@stormwise I bought a lenovo workstation Intel Xenon processor, 32GB of ram, 512GB ssd 22 inch monitor all in for £1700. Now that is SPECtacular. Whilst Apple wanted over £3000 for similar spec.

Most people don't even know the difference between non ECC and ECC ram. Saying that, most people will never need to use it.

But i am sure you can build a computer with a better spec using Xeons and ECC memory for the price of Mac Pro. Might not look as pretty but who cares anyway.
