Do those certificates really mean something? Like, can they actually get you a job? Like I have some from SoloLearn. But I don't know if they actually mean something to interviewers lol.

Yeah I don’t think it adds any true value to anything other than a completion.

I will add though everything through pirple is pretty cool. Their certificate might not be worth anything but the way they go through everything is fairly nice. And everything you do is reviewed by someone and has to go through a review process. So it’s not very bad.

Yes I’ve noticed that. I find myself searching for all sorts of stuff. Often times it’s like okay I know I can do this but how do I do that again. Quick look and oh yeah okay that’s how.

@Bybit260 aim for Coursera and edX ones. They’re similarly easy to get but they got flashy names on them like Microsoft, Stanford, Berkeley

@Bybit260 yes they have very high value and not for what you think: for a lot of us we suffer from imposter syndrome. and from what I've seen certification goes a long way toward easing that.

Won't improve your hiring chances directly but it will mean you feel more confident and willing to try.

so if you ever lacked confidence in an interview or couldnt get up the nerve to try, I recommend putting some certificates under your belt.

of course I also recommend liquor and cheap sex for the same problem but hey, to each their own!

the other one I recommend is sleeping in slacks, or dress pants. A lot of em tend to be really comfortable. And then when you go to interview, you're basically wearing your pajamas in the session. sets the chill af meter to 100.

of course now with the hermit apocalypse, you can just interview in your actual pajamas
...or naked from the waist down. definitely naked if it was me.

@Wisecrack I’ve stopped drinking almost completely since having kids and had a few drinks last night in the hot tub. Man I just can’t hang anymore. Sad part is I’m in my prime lol

@cloudsxvx good on you mate. Best to raise a family when you're young and have the energy to teach them and protect them.
