I tend to prefer music without lyrics. Typically I'll listen to artists such as Lindsey Stirling.
-
Sladix668yIt depends on the task I'm performing, when I know exactly what I have to do I listen to EDM/dubstep but when I'm in a design mood I prefer epic soundtrack haha
-
Hultan704668yAs @IronPhreak said, anything WITHOUT lyrics...Lyrics messes with my concentration...
-
Music without lyrics does it for me.if i hear lyrics i may end up nodding to the beat and getting distracted.
-
"WTF was this developer thinking?", "The PM want us in an unplanned meeting with the client", "The requirements changed again", "Windows is updating so I'm going to take a 3-day nap"... Those are usually the best songs I listen in my office.

Flygger19798yTypically a mix of black, death, and hero metal (Satyricon, Amon Amarth, Blind Guardian), musicals, and (lyricless) electronical (Slagsmålsklubben, Daft Punk).
At the moment I also mix in a lot of Enya and am easing into a month of only christmas :) -
p0s1x938y8 bit chiptune 😂 nah, usually to drum and bass, deep house, techno and sorts. Anything but music with alot of vocals that distract me
-
-----98yI like to listen to this type, especially the first episode: http://musicforprogramming.net

slaat12898yI really enjoy lost_in_house on twitch/SoundCloud. But sometimes she talks too much hahaha 😅
Besides that I listen to house, trap or dubstep. Depending on the severity of the problem that needs to be solved -
svandeun4118yEDM/Symphonic Metal/Country/Pop/game bgms
Varies according if I have to concentrate a lot and want to be isolated from the open space or if I am in totally know what I have to do almost coding with muscle memory... -
scionar328yI listen something without lyrics but with a intensive rhythm. Like techno. That music gives emergy anf gives me some vibes.
Lazy nature music gets me sleepy and my neck needs massage afterwards. -
Norsk, Mythical, Electro Swing, SteamPunk (I don't even know if that's a musical style, it's just what people are labelling the YouTube videos), RHCP, The Police (ain't that old @learntoprogram ;) ), Queen.. damn, pretty much anything without lyrics most time, if it's with lyrics then that means I'm in a loose concentrational mood and you'll most likely find me talking to my programs... Else you'll find me typing hard and fast.
-
Power Metal when I'm actually coding and debugging. If I'm planning, my preference is silence, but since that never happens I compromise with hard rock or prog rock.
-
nocgod17558yAll sorts of metal: heavy, power, progressive, symphonic, death, djent... My main heroes are Leo from frog leap studios and Rob Scallon (on YouTube)
-
darkvoid5788yI cant listen to music at my job, on all my internships I listened to music. But at this company it's not allowed.
-
Tonyobyo3128ySpecifically instrumental electronica in its many different forms but specifically a blend of Ulrich Schnauss, Groove Armada, Future Loop Foundation, and other artists similar
-
darkvoid5788y@learntoprogram the reason behind it is that you can pick up stuff about projects and stay update with whats going on etc. But we have an internal chat for that. Besides that i can work faster when I have music on. And a colleague thought that it's normal that you can't listen to music at work xD
-
@theCreativeOne I don't care if my team works naked while listening to Mister T sing Jingle Bells if they meet requirements....
-
cod3doc7128yI listen to Programmer's Music - https://promusic.tech/2mJrw8A. They have all genres andthey are all instrumental tracks.
