Ok, so here is the thing:
After a very long WINDOWS UPDATE
the sound has gone. No speakers or headphones working. After wasting >10 hours (not in a row)
trying to find the FINAL SOLUTION, I have just gave up. Bought a working external sound card, but I could only use headphones plugged into it.
In a week, I booted Linux (cos I have never really
used it and not with the sound problem in mind) and guess what - on Linux sound works normally! On THE SAME LAPTOP!!!
I belive the update somehow harmed the audio drivers. I'm really fed up with it.

    Given pulse audio, that's a miracle.

    You can download drivers from your manufacturer and manually reinstall them to test your hypothesis under windows.

    That's strange.

    As far as windows goes it has been a LONG time since I've had audio issues as far as updates / drivers goes.

    Driver hell has been long since a thing of the past in windows land for me.

    @SortOfTested I've tried it. Maybe Windows is just unable to find them

    Delete them in device manager, download them from the vendor website and tell windows to use a manual driver source, it will prompt you to specify the file you downloaded.

    Make sure to check the "remove drivers" when you uninstall the existing ones, and disable install drivers from windows update in GPO.

    If that doesn't work, then the problem is a bad driver from your vendor.

    This whole second guessing cluster fuck makes me glad I'm not on windows much 😆

    Be thankful it's only audio, await for the USB drivers, Bluetooth drivers, Network drivers shitting them self at some point.

    I swear windows is taking lessons from arch releases, it's just a game of wack a mole or driver with each major update.

    If it was a Mac, the answer would be simple: it's a Mac, yeah. Full stop.
