If a programmer creates scripts to complete his work for him, does that still technically mean he's doing his job?

    Yes :) he was assigned to accomplish a task, if he automated it - it will still be performed. If he tells anyone he automated it - he'll either lose his job, or get assigned to automate something else :)

    It means he has found a way to do that job more effectively.. unless he misses something and fucks it up badly. Automation scripts..funny ..aint they..😂

    A good programmer's job it's to eventually become redundant.

    Then bugs happen, and tight deadlines, and horrible hacks.

    I think it does. Chances are that if theres input from the user at some level, they'll be an error at some stage. Your new role can be to maintain the software 😆

    He should put in a self-destruct function just in case though, so without him, his job can't be automated, but as long as he's paid, he his job doesn't need to be done.

    A developer's job is to automate his workload and maintain the automations. If you are doing repetitive tasks manually you're wasting a lot of the company's time.
