    YOUR OPINIONS DIFFER FROM MINE!!!

@Artemix On my machine it's lighter, faster and more stable than many other distros. And it's got the only decent UI beside Gnome.

@deadlyRants you can't pretend KDE or cinnamon aren't decent

I really like Slackware, because i find it simple and am accustomed to it..
And I like doing stuff myself.
If I had a more powerful laptop though, I'd probably run Gentoo.

That's my personal preference and taste though. :)

For something light & different.. Check void Linux :p

Though the BtrFS system & integration on openSuSE is quite interesting Imo..

But am leaning more towards ZFS, perhaps FreeBSD in that case.. :)

Putting windows at top.. Well perhaps if you're dot net or c# developer.. :p

@willol In KDE many features seem unpolished. Everything works but feels a bit unwieldy.
It's not bad, but I prefer Gnome and Pantheon.

@Artemix agreed. Windows is pretty fine but I prefer arch.

@chasb96 @pxgamer agree, I bet ur data gets sold everywhere unless u do everything yourself... -> Arch Linux

I don't get why people especially devs think they can get away with not "getting their data stolen" just by using Arch.

I mean are you saying you live in some cave and don't even use Google?

To some extent fine! But these Arch evangelists sometimes are saying plain nonsense if you ask me.

If security is that much a concern..
Password lock your boot system (uefi, bios), lock your boot loader.
    Encrypt your partition (true crypt?)
Harden your kernel, disable auto start of unneeded services..

Change your system passwords often and never use the same somewhere twice...

Oh and don't forget to wrap yourself a fine little tinfoil hat.. :)

    @Artemix I see.
Been a while since I've threaded those waters.. :)

Though if I was to set something up I'd probably build a jail forest on a geli encrypted OpenBSD install.. :)

@Artemix Elementary is kinda my favorite system because it's (on my laptop) lightweight, fast and works without issues. But, looking into trying out Fedora

@SupressWarnings Disclaimer: not an arch user. Anyways, I don't use Google indeed. Solely for privacy reasons. What do I use instead? DuckDuckGo and Searx.me

@lotd I'd try out bsd but heard that it takes a lot of learning and don't have much learning time atm

@linuxxx good for you :) the point I'm trying to get through is it is not the OS as much as the user which is responsible for the security of personal data. If you are dumb enough to sign up on Google and Facebook and what not and complain about companies stealing data, well, you're on your own.

@linuxxx if you're comfortable in a terminal, know the basics of compiling software sources and are already familiar with how Linux works..
Then it shouldn't be that much of a leap to learn.. :)

@SupressWarnings agree on that too. The thing is when u use arch u have nothing preinstalled on ur system. So as u said: if u want to install chrome after installing arch... fine go with it. Everyone can do what he likes to do. But I could imagine if Google has your data, others can get it too...
