IMHO devs should just be bought any reasonably priced productivity software they want anyway. Probably costs more in time alone to argue, and that's before you factor in the human element of feeling valued.

asgs112754yIntellizj is good and devs very well deserve it
But using it only to push certain files is injustice. Can only be seen as a stunt to prank your boss -
jvillavi3524y@asgs Off course you will be coding and pushing changes from time to time. My point is that the tool is affordable specially considering that we devs help companies make profit well beyond the price of a puny ide subscription alone
-
asgs112754y@jvillavi that point is well understood with or without this rant
Your rant sounded like you sole intention was to rip off your company/boss for something you don't do -
jvillavi3524y@asgs wasn’t my intention. It is more related to a painter forced to make a masterpiece with crayons instead of giving him/her the proper tools...

irene33914y@AlmondSauce IMHO devs should be given the tools they need to do what they are asked to do. That doesn’t usually happen in my experience.
Things I have asked for over the years but not gotten: an OS that makes sense, VMware, Acrobat Pro, static ipv4 addresses, a mobile device to test a mobile app on, privileges to install software, a version control system, Java for Jenkins, disable sleep on a computer a public location. This isn’t an exhaustive list. -
I guess I'd be the cheapest employee then as I always try and go with the FLOSS options 😄
