I fucking hate people who think Eclipse is the only IDE out there for Java development, stop being so conservative and get out of the comfortable old rusty editor..!28
-
*Lazy Friend has IntelliJ and Eclipse*
*Lazy Friend using Notepad++*
Me: Why don't you use IntelliJ? Its debugger really helps..
LF: It takes too much time to start, I don't have that much time..
*continues staring at his screen and using his mind debugger*
It's kinda funny when he just sits and stares at his screen after saying that he doesn't have any time..
It took way less time to find the (a?) bug when he finally used the debugger..7 -
manager: "you wrote all your code in java, but i really prefer reading scala 😔"
me: *uses intellij to convert all my java to scala in two seconds*6 -
IntelliJ IDEA just saved my ass!
I tried deleting a resource file I had staged, but not commited yet.
A dialog comes up asking to delete alternative configs with "Yes" as the default.
Boom! After I braindead hit the enter key all other files vanished too!
I checked Git and saw to my horror that the files were also not tracked anymore.
I hastly lookup the last backup timestamp - an hour ago - fuuuuu!
I just lost about an hour of work.
I was about to give up and start from scratch when I look at the edit menu in my IDE.
Turns out you can actually undo multiple file deletions!
Kudos to the girls and boys at JetBrains! You saved the day! 😙8 -
(While there is also IntelliJ on the PC)
Teacher : "We're going to make JAVA, please open Eclipse"
Me : *Opens IntelliJ, get weird looks from friends and explains why it's good*5 -
Hi everyone, I'm new here but I liked the posts so I thought I'd chip in. Here's a picture of my home office.
I'm currently brushing up on SQL and Java in my internship while I await graduation at the end of the year. Java>C# IMO. C++ is my first love but nobody wants to hire for it anymore.
To everyone who's worked in Java, Eclipse or Intellij IDEA and why? (I mostly use Eclipse because the internship requires it).
I hope to have fun here, so please give me a warm welcome or a rant.22 -
*sees rants about pressing ctrl+s too many times/in the wrong window*
*works in Intellij*
Me: What is a "ctrl+s"...?14 -
IntelliJ users will understand the pain 😂joke/meme infinity hilarious loading humor jetbrains intellij idea funny index indexing intellij time wasted7
-
When you realize that you are in the third school year and still the half of the class prefers eclipse over intelliJ and think that git is useless.18
-
It bothers me that IntelliJ IDEs and Documents on Google Drive don't require Ctrl + S to be pressed to save a file.
That's like my birthright taken away from me!8 -
Drop brother off at a new years party, where he will be until sunrise partying with friends.
Me: Have fun!
Me: *drives back home, grabs laptop and opens up IntelliJ*
Me: Let the finger dance begin!
Have I mentioned I hate parties?4 -
Dev of my team coding on Idea
Seeing him using space-bar to format copy pasted lines of code
Me: why don't you use ctrl+l shortcut?
Him: I don't use shortcuts while coding
Me: at least use the tab
him: nope.
He formatted 3000 lines of code with space-bar. He's not even using notepad. 😐
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.9 -
Got arch Linux working on my laptop.
Installed Budgie GNOME, Cairo dock, Termite, VS Code, Code::Blocks, Android Studio, IntelliJ....
It's so beautiful9 -
Last Friday i convinced my boss it was mission critical to have an IntelliJ Idea subscription for my workstation...
I mostly push yaml files to git... 😁 and i regret nothing...9 -
Atom is free.
Visual Studio Code is free.
Jetbrains IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate is $500 per year.
Atom has Teletype.
Visual Studio / Code has LiveShare.
Jetbrains IntelliJ has "Can you send me over the file and I'll try to figure out the issue without any sort of context?"27 -
At my school we programmed with BluJ and then switched to IntelliJ mid semester. I felt like I went from driving a station wagon to a brand new Tesla.3
-
My 1366x768 laptop resolution is not enough to even have intellij open along with firefox in split screen mode... :(5
-
I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why IntelliJ was asking me if I wanted to add some files to git when they were in .gitignore.
*sigh*5 -
The best feature in Intellij is the export to Eclipse. I fucking hate Eclipse but we have to submit our assignments as eclipse projects. Eclipse is the worst software i have ever seen. It even crashed in the same Moment as a classmate asked why i hated Eclipse.2
-
I’m surrounded by devs that use the light theme in IntelliJ. It triggers me more than any bad code 😂😂😂5
-
Full time eclipse user, I just bought intellij idea and it blows my mind :D
Merry Christmas everyone4 -
One day I created a bug issue for intellij to the JetBrains guys. After some days this ticket got closed with status 'fixed'. That was kinda satisfying.1
-
How intellij handles syntax errors while reformating code vs eclipse:
Intellij: I'm not sure what you want to do there, so I'll just make slight adjustments.
Eclipse: Yeah, I don't understand this so fuck your whole file. -
We were doing a project for uni in which we had to make a game in Java, we were on my department the night before working the last bits, it was working perfectly, until two hours until we had to turn it in, when I ran the code on IntelliJ it worked but the .jar file I exported didn't work and I didn't know why... I had to carry the my desktop PC I was working on because my laptop was broken at the time and we didnt have another computer on hand with IntelliJ and shit, I could swear I could see my friends laughing...
Two hours later from presenting the project I realized someone changed the file of a name from spritebatch1.png to Spritebatch1.png...
Changed it back, worked in an instant...
They were all behind me and started laughing like the best joke in the world was told...
I almost killed them all, but laughed along them afterwards...7 -
Which of your everyday tools do you like most?
For me it's:
- Sublime Text
- IntelliJ
- BetterSnapTool (os x)
- coffee machine
- Zsh27 -
Summer is coming, and i suppose all of you will buy a new barbecue to cook some meat, but i have another economic alternative.
How to make a homemade bbq:
1) Take an old laptop
2) Turn it on
3) Install Android studio (also works with intellij)
4) Add a lot of gradle (or maven) depencies
5) Code something cool (or not)
6) Build and compile it
7) Now you can put your meat on your laptop
8) Enjoy your meal13 -
Now what, IntelliJ...? 🤨
(moral of the story: Don't install new things when you want to go to bed!)2 -
Which dev charges certain devs thst use their Intellij-Plugin? 🤣
I hope he knows that he will never get his money. But nice strategy agains people who are blaming you. 👍🏽1 -
I am so in LOVE with IntelliJ. I used to use Eclipse before, just switched to intelliJ last week and I am falling in love with this IDE a little more every day!!!!!16
-
IntelliJ has this tutorial where it teaches you a bunch of shortcuts for making life easy, since version 2017.3 or something like that. Most of it is pretty meh, some of it is pretty useful. And I just came across a keybind to auto format code.
What else do I need. If I can quickly format my code and make it look pretty, that's all I'd want.
"Try reformatting the selected code with Ctrl+Alt+L"
*Linux Mint goes to lock screen*
*logs back in, code is unchanged*
Well played...6 -
"Well this is Java, that's intelliJ"
-Guy in my CS class figuring out why my code works and his doesn't5 -
No IntelliJ, just because my API CLASS has an unused method, doesn't mean IT SHOULD BE MADE PRIVATE!2

Oops, wrong module 😥2 -
Follow up to my (ignorant) previous rant.
Context: Eclipse vs intelliJ
Situation: Was too comfortable with eclipse. knew shortcuts in the back of my palm. Loved the light theme. Argued with anyone who blindly believed IntelliJ is better than eclipse.
Action: Forced myself to try IntelliJ. Stepped out of my comfort zone. Got a one day code block. Changed to darcula. My eyes struggled to read. My fingers typed usual eclipse shortcuts to discover unknown windows.
Verdict: after two days of learning and not giving up. I have started loving IntelliJ and I know why.
Moral: change is good. Get out of your comfort zone ;)15 -
IntelliJ!! In my opinion its the best IDE for Java and Kotlin and it supports you to code better
And I got it for free because I'm a student :D4 -
Not usually a person to rant about spacing and conventions but this is great.
4 devs, all using IntelliJ. Now IntelliJ auto-changes tabs to spaces which is nice, and GitHub doesn’t really care as long as the spacing is consistent. Now here is the fun part: 2 devs have 4 spaces per tab, 1 has 3 spaces, 1 has 5 spaces.
GitHub merge conflicts everyWHERE.
And yes it isn’t the old 2 vs 4 spaces. It’s 3 vs 4 vs 5 somehow6 -
Sometimes.. Sometimes I really want to punch a developer in the face.
Heres why. Please appreciate the few minutes i spent on editing this to look nicer xD8 -
Omg visual studio is a piece of SHIT!
I'd rather code java in eclipse than another line of c# in visual studio.
Once you work in IntelliJ other IDE's are awful.5 -
After writing JavaScript codes in Sublime Text I realise how easy it is in Android Studio with intelliJ.
You may be slow Android Studio, but you are smart. And I love you for that.2 -
I feel like I was very productive today. At last, I found myself a nice dark theme for NetBeans based on IntelliJ darcula theme. I also found a perfect Java API 8 SE class for date manipulation called LocalDate.4
-
Intellij, Android Studio, PyCharm, ...
Because it looks the best for a full IDE (editors are another topic 😉). Especially with Kotlin:10 -
Tried both vscode and atom. However, keep coming back to Sublime Text, now only if they provided completion as good as IntelliJ, they would beat everyone12
-
You know, there's one thing I absolutely LOVE about IntelliJ. It strikes through deprecated code and shows what you can replace it with.3
-
I have always considered myself as a tab person.
I was living my happy life thinking spaces didn't make sense in code.
This until last week, when I realised intellij is automatically putting 4 spaces instead of tabs
I feel betrayed5 -
So, I have this free 90 day trial code for intelliJ IDEA Ultimate I got for enrolling in this udemy course. And, I don't need it anymore because I can use my student email to get access to jetbrains software, ie intelliJ ultimate. So, if you want to try out inteliJ ultimate for 3 months, let me know and I can give you the code... somehow. I'm not sure yet. Maybe Google Hangouts?10
-
FUCKING FINALLY TIME!!!
I did it! I made IntelliJ IDEA find my Android SDK installation!
Thanks SO!!!
Now I can experience the joy of Gradle build times!!!
Why did Google had to make so difficult to work with Android without its Studio?!?!?!12 -
I will leave it here
monday- tabs vs spaces
Tuesday- brackets indentation
wednesday- windows vs mac
Thursday- c# vs java
friday - windows vs linux
saturday- vi vs emacs
sunday- vs code vs intellij2 -
i don't know graphql
but the schema.graphql file is over 100 000 lines long and lags intellij
how bad is this?5 -
Most favorite: Intellij IDEA
Least favorite: Intellij IDEA
I mean, once Maven and stuff are set it's perfect. But, damn, configuring it on a new computer...3 -
ffffffukcc you eclipse you god damn old piece of slow fuck, so many missing features after transitioning from intellij to eclipse, i want to fkig code in intellij but college forces us to use the god damn eclipse4
-
"Just use JCreator. It's better and easier to use than Eclipse or IntelliJ."
For those that don't know, jcreator is a Java ide that sucks ass. It doesn't even have a dark theme!3 -
Intellij IDEA, what in the name of fuck have you been "indexing" for more than 24 hours that keeps my CPU at a constant 200%???!
There aren't even enough files on my entire machine to justify this ridiculousness...7 -
Oh boy IntelliJ IDEA is gonna spoil me bad
This postfix completion feature just blew my mind. I didn't know I wanted this until I found out about it.
I missed a proper IDE for a long time. VSCode is fine but holy shit I forgot how much a good IDE can do for you.5 -
I love IntelliJ??? At first I got frustrated cause there was a small learning curve and I was impatient but after actually using it for the first time today It’s great5
-
I usually come on here to bitch and whine but this time I want to sing the praises of WebStorm / The intellij family of software.
Never change. continue to be amazing and absolute chock full of customisable features. Thank you.7 -
I literally dont use any other code editor other than intellij. Yes not even your fucking vscode. I code frontend in intellij! I code angular and nextjs in intellij!! Intellij literally has everything anything else has plus way more. Intellisense is also much better. Theres also been a major update yesterday and everything is so much faster and smarter. And theme is way better looking. I will dick ride intellij till death do us apart!!!!19
-
INTELLIJ YOU PIECE OF SH*T, I CLICKED "SMART CHECKOUT" NOT MERGE 2 UNRELATED BRANCHES, SCREW UP MY MASTER AND DON'T LET ME RETURN UNTIL I FIX ALL MERGE CONFLICTS.3
-
Which one's your favourite IDE 😋?
Intellj vs Eclipse vs Netbeans vs Xcode vs other?😏
Mine is Intellij.23 -
- delete all social network apps
- turn off push notifications of EVERYTHING
- open IntelliJ in full screen mode
- play jazz with very low volume2 -
Jetbrains (IntelliJ, Rider) - cannot live without it. Everything else seems to be unnecessarily complicated in comparison.1
-
My company provides license for Intellij IDEA Ultimate but I've customised my Vim for development according to my convenience so I use Vim instead.
Except for changing variable names across multiple files. IDEA's refactoring is the only thing I am using IDEA for.6 -
Just gonna leave this here because I am too lazy to write a proper article for my website:
If anyone is trying to create a Vue.js website with Node.js backend do NOT use express-vue, it is unnecessarily complicated and broken. Instead use this method I found.
You will need:
- IntelliJ IDEA / WebStorm / other IDE supporting multiple modules per project and tasks
- Nodejs and npm
- vue-cli
Step by step:
1. Create new empty project
2. Add your frontend module using vue-cli generator
3. Add your backend module using Express generator
4. Run npm build in your frontend module once
5. Move or remove public folder in your backend module
6. Create a symlink from your backend module root called public pointing to dist folder in your frontend module root
7. Make sure to add "Run npm build" from frontend module to your "bin/www" task (default task for Express module)
8. Enjoy developing your REST API in Node/Express and your frontend in Vue.js with single-file components and it being served by the same server that is providing the backend.
(Since they are separate modules and you are not mixing webpack and Node/Express you can add ts-loader, stylus-loader, pug-loader or any other loaders without screwing anything up)
For deployment you just need to copy the contents of dist into public on the server. (and not upload the symlink)6 -
I hate Eclipse.
I have the Student membership for a year but I can't use IntelliJ for my project because I HAVE to use Eclipse.
I'm around 80% - 90% done with my project, so I guess I won't have to deal with it much longer.3 -
Today's first day at my internship has been wasted by IntelliJ IDEA not importing a project properly.
On the bright side, other devs told me that it took them three days in order for all configuration to be set up.
Man, this sure feels unproductive.3 -
We've got a new CS teacher this year, and she wants to teach us how to use a step debugger. But, instead of using eclipse or IntelliJ, she thinks we should all use BlueJ, which is just as bad as fucking JCreator! Why do schools, particularly highschools, use these shitty ass IDEs? IntelliJ has a free community version. And I'm pretty sure that Eclipse is just free. Why the fuck aren't we using either of those?!5
-
I'm about to lose my freaking mind on intellij. Ran my tests yesterday and everything was good. I added a new method and a new test case today and suddenly no tests are found. Well they didn't go anywhere!! "Class not found, empty test suite" ... Lies! I've been messing with configurations for over an hour now. I just want to run my tests...1
-
Today my boss granted the intellij Ultimate license. It's a good day.
(even though eclipse isn't that bad I like intellij more)1 -
I decided to upgrade my intellij ultimate from 2019.3 to 2020.2 and I saw there is update button.
I clicked on it.
As I expected it didn’t work and it was 30 minutes waiting looking at progress bar going back and forth couple of times before I decided just to download latest version and drag and drop it to applications folder ( took me 5 minutes) - I use mac so it replaces all crap ( I think ).
I cleared the old cache that growed to 2 gigabytes leaving some configuration files.
Next as always crash on startup cause of incompatible plugins with long java stacktrace - at least I could click the close button or popup closed itself I can’t remember ( one version I remember this button couldn’t be clicked cause it was off the screen and you need to do some cheating to launch ide )
The font has changed and I see that it at least work a little faster - that is nice. Indexing is finally fixed after all those years - probably thanks to visual studio code intellisense pushing those lazy bastards to deal with this.
But the preloader on first logo disappears so I think they decided to remove it cause it’s so fast - no it loads the same time or maybe little longer when I launch it on my old macbook.
After that as always I looked at plugins to see if there’s something interesting, so to find ability to scroll over whole plugins I needed to click couple of times. I think they assume I remember all the nice plugins in their marketplace and I only type search.
Maybe I should be type of user who reads best 2020 plugins for your best ide crap articles filled with advertising or even waste more time to watch all of this great videos about ide ( are there any kind of this stuff ? )
After a few operations I unfortunately clicked apply instead of restart ide and it hanged up on uninstalling some plugin I’m no longer interested in for 5 minutes so I decided to use always working ‘kill -9’ from command line.
Launched again and this time success.
Fortunately indexing finished for this workspace and I can work.
I’m intellij ultimate subscriber for 7+ years and I see those craps are not changing from like forever.
What’s the point of automate something that you can’t regression test ?
I started thinking that now when most people are facebook wall scrolling zombies companies assume that when new software comes out everyone is installing it right away and if not they’re probably not our customers cause they’re dead.
What a surprise they have when I pay for another year I can only imagine ( to be fair probably they even don’t know who I am ).
Yeah for sure I am subscribed to newsletters and I have jetbrains as a start page cause I shit myself with money and have nothing better to do then be grupie ( is there corporate grupies already a big community? )
Well I am a guy who likes to spend some time when installing anything and especially software that is responsible for my main source of income and productivity speed up.
Anyway I decided to upgrade cause editing es7 and typescript got to be pain in the ass and I see it’s working fine now. I don’t know if I like the font but at least the editor it’s working the same or maybe faster then the original that is huge improvement as developers lose most of their time between keyboard and screen communication protocol.
I don’t write it to discourage intellij as it’s great independent ide that I love and support for such a long time but they should focus on code editor and developers efficiency not on things that doesn’t make sense.
Congratulations if you reached this point of this meaningless post.
Now I started thinking that maybe it’s working faster cause I removed 2 gigs of crap from it.
Well we’ll see.1 -
Just realised one thing. Every single time I have IntelliJ IDEA or Android Studio opened, Chrome of Firefox are just, like really fast. But as soon as I close IntelliJ or Studio, the browsers are slow as hell.
-
No doubt that Idea IntelliJ is super awesome!! But I still don't understand who could people afford it? It is so damn expensive!!12
-
For everyone, who uses any IntelliJ based IDE: Ctrl + Click on a method or variable, you will see all uses of that var or method. If you are clicking a usage of it you will jump to the method reference, even from libraries or for example from the Java runtime library.3
-
I've finished the knowledge tests at the local DevJobCon and I got the following question on the easy part of the Java session:
Which of the following is NOT a Java IDE:
a) Eclipse
b) Netbeans
c) IntelliJ IDEA
d) Notepad++
😆6 -
Omg some days java ide's can be annoying ...
No IntelliJ I never mean java.sql.date and I never ever mean java.awt.list3 -
Setting up a single node Hadoop cluster. Then installing intellij idea, to find that it doesn't detect any installed jdk. Then uninstalled all jdks, and then reinstalled one, then Hadoop won't work. Now everything seems fine.
-
Wrote some code. Didn't work.
Cleared all build caches, deleted project files and re-opened the project from scratch. Code still doesn't work.
Copied the same code over to a new project. Works.
I FUCKING HATE DAYS LIKE THESE!!!2 -
My biggest programming pet peeve: The code throws a series of unchecked assignment errors and yet it compiles.
Go home Intellij you need some sleep.7 -
Who the f*** came up with the idea to add `com.sun.xml.internal.bind.v2.TODO`
Thanks to a hasty ctrl-space #intellij added this … as import … dafuq2 -
So a question to all of the Java developers out there, am I the only one who can’t stand the idea of programming using eclipse or netbeans? I feel like Intellij idea is the best IDE that one can use8
-
IntelliJ kinda merged one of its own branches into my master and I kinda realized it too late.
Any tips on how I can set the remote HEAD to my HEAD at the commit "fixing git"?4 -
I feel bad for bitching a lot on this site, so I'm going to try something positive for a change.
I got finished building this basic database web application that I ported from a Java EE based API to the Spring/Hibernate API. Took me about 3 weeks of work to do it. There's a new feature to search the database that I added just today. Had to do some debugging on it but it works fine.
Back in May I had never written a line of Java code or setup a LAMP stack, to doing stuff like this. This stuff gives me the strength I need to keep going. Someday I'm going to get a job as a junior dev.4 -
I hate Intellij so much ...
* it has the weirdest bugs
* like window focus not working properly,
weird comment/uncomment short (jumps one line down wtf)
* It is slow as hell
* doesn't compile properly (or doesn't give a shit telling me about its actual status).
* Not even the build log is working properly. Why can I hide WARNs but no INFOs?? WTF
* Panels are all over the place and keep coming back, regardless how often I close them ....
ARG ARG ARG, *smashing face on the keyboard*
and the worst ... even though I have the F***ING ULTIMATE version, it constantly nags me about BUYING THE F***NG ULTIMATE VERSION AAAAAARG12 -
I was fine with Eclipse. Then everyone around me told me that Eclipse is old and IntelliJ is new and super cool and makes me super fast and much more productive. Finally in our company we got a Ultimate 2018 license and I started to use it. There is a function: import from Eclipse. Hey cool - let’s import and go... but no. After importing I needed one day to get that running. But I’m not really convinced. After that... ok let’s try another project where colleagues have used IntelliJ already. But after checking out - that also didn’t work well and I spent the whole day it running locally. Although it’s a maven project. Up to know I think Eclipse is better in handling Tomcat and better shows the version control state of files. And for me the workspace concept of Eclipse seems to be better than the project concept of IntelliJ. But maybe I just have to get a better understanding of IntelliJ. Hopefully I can do my first coding in IntelliJ tomorrow. Maybe then I can see all the benefits. So far...4
-
Best tool is IntelliJ! As for the worst tool, that would be the deer saddle. I couldn’t find a deer to strap it on so i could ride it. Sigh...you have no idea how badly I wanted to be a deerboy2
-
Am I the only one who thinks that IntelliJ is getting buggier and buggier after each release? Coz the newest version 2018.1 is total crap full of bugs...5
-
Even if I would want to change from vscode to php storm or intellij idea, I most likely wouldn't be able to, because I love monokai pro too much 😥14
-
Ever since I downloaded Intellij, which was 10 years ago, I have tried to move into more hype oriented editors ... Atom, sublime, vs-code... But nothing beat intellijs sense of fullfilment! Its like you are in a sand box that offers everything you need to do anything you want! Need plugins ? Right there! Terminals? Right there! Git ? Right there!! Distraction free mode/zen mode? There! Spice up your editor with a background image? There!!!
I think for those who take the hype of editors need to check their goals/aims. I have learned that whenever i tried to change the environment i work in, the reason was always unsatisfactory projects, or boring projects!
Your coding environment (no matter what it is) is your sanctum sanctorum. Change one bit of it and your whole world is disrupted.
And thats a piece of advice for those who use Vim to notepad to intellij to whatever is more advanced then intellij!
Also includes a picture of my setup!1 -
Whiteboard 😂
But seriously Jetbrains I am IntelliJ ultimate user for 6 years or something - I like their debugger expression watch and multiline expression evaluation.
Also like their git integration, the fact that you can only mark some lines in file to commit.
I am used to their keyboard shortcuts.
I like there is vscode cause it made my IntelliJ work better.
Competition is always good.
Maybe I switch to vscode but only if I’m broke and can’t afford IntelliJ. -
Renaming a file is just too difficult for this piece of shit software.
Fixing bugs? Fuck no.
Fixing crashes? Fuck no.
Fixing the unnavigable IDE settings? Fuck no.
The IntelliJ platform is a bloated piece of shit at every level.
JetBrains cannot produce software that isn't held together by duct tape.
I can't name a single item of software they've ever produced that isn't a bloated piece of shit.
Even if you are prepared to waste a lot of time trying to file a bug report – which they usually just ignore or pretend not to be reproducible – you have to use another in-house heap of shit called YouTrack.
Have you tried using this piece of trash that masquerades as a bug tracker?
These people are fucking clinically insane.
While your IDE becomes unresponsive and crashes without warning, or your keyboard shortcuts just mysteriously stop working in the IDE, or indexing just stops working for no reason, why not check out their TikTok and Twitter accounts?
They've got an excellent PR team that knows how to polish a turd for public consumption, and to make money out of it.14 -
I've known about ligature fonts for about two years now. First thoughts where "ewh Im not gonna get used to it".
Kinda forgot about it until someone mentioned it to me. I tried it out since it was built in IntelliJ and don't want anything else anymore. But when pair programming I do get some confused looks.
What is your opinion on ligature fonts like Fira Code?2 -
I just used Visual studio c++ for the first time. In comparison to intellij it just sucks, so many features are missing, im fighting with the editor all the time.. For example Code completion, visual studio suggests me the method name, i press enter, new line inserted, wtf? Apparently only tab is working here, next try, visual studio suggests method, I click tab, method name inserted but whithout brackets, omg. The standard shortcut for commenting out code is CTRL+K followed by CTRL+C, if you want to use the code again you need to use CTRL+K followed by CTRL+U. HOW STUPID IS THIS? Refactoring of code, e.g. Method names also sucks...5
-
So we have an internal license server for intellij.
Installed idea, tried to connect to license server. It wouldn't connect.
Got at least, 10 devs and the admin to look at the problem. No one could find why it was not connecting.
After full 2 hours someone got the idea, came to my laptop and fixed it. Turns out windows firewall was blocking all requests from intellij.
Fuuuuuuuck5 -
No Rant:
I guess I will start a religous discussion with it but I want your opinion on what tool I should learn.
Vim or Emacs (or stay with my IDE)?
For all of my programmer life I used IDEs... From Eclipse over CodeBlocks over VS to IntelliJ.
But now I realized that I want to be one of the cool kids. And using plain IntelliJ is uncool. No matter how much I love this tool.
So now I want to invest some time into learning. I never managed to do much in Vim since all code-completions sucked ass, feedback on syntax errors was bad and I never saw how I could be any faster with that shit compared to what IntelliJ does for me.
Will Emacs solve all those problems? Will Emacs make me code 1000 times faster and make having a mouse useless?
Or am I just too dumb for Vim? Can Vim itself do what my IDE does for me? Will it make me look as cool as I want to be?
Or should I stick to IntelliJ and just install Vim bindings?
What is your opinion on Vim vs Emacs vs any IDE?8 -
Got fed up of waiting for the carrot on the stick that is 'budget approval' and decided to start using trials of IntelliJ and JRebel rather than eclipse and restarting my server everytime I make a change. Now Ive become so accustomed to it that it feels awful knowing that in 30 days I'm back in the dark ages.3
-
Omg I really like IntelliJ, but its GUI form designer is just completely and utter crap! Can't even resize a button! >:(3
-
IntelliJ, IntelliJ I love you but please tell me why making a jsp file from scratch doesn't work in the servlet but your template for a jsp does. It makes no fugging sense to me. StackOverflow doesn't know and I went there for help.
I was debugging that shit for 5 hours today over an issue that was fixed in 3 minutes. I need ice cream.2 -
So I tried IntelliJ. Interesting UI...but it’s bullshit that I have to pay for a subscription to integrate with Application servers. No thanks, I will stick with Eclipse. It’s free and in my opinion easier to use. IntelliJ is pretty, that’s for sure...but the value sucks.5
-
Which fucking cunt keeps thinking putting redo on ctrl+shift+z or some other retarded shortcut is a good idea
Lost a whole paragraph of technical explanation because I didn't realize and then couldn't redo my panic undo 😠11 -
Who else noticed Jetbrains is selling the exact fucking same IDE a bunch of times with different plugins? Intellij Idea is essentially the same IDE as Gogland or PHPStorm, just with different plugins, yet they want money for every single IDE separately...8
-
Just wrote a Scala test class using Sublime, felt like I moved faster than with IntelliJ... Maybe I should try vim next?1
-
With the recommendation of some from here I went ahead and set up the Material Theme on my IntelliJ and I have to say, looks pretty sweet!5
-
Me: //trying to fix bugs
IntelliJ: hey you have 2 typos
Me: Where? I can't see typos anywhere what the Hell
Me: //looks up and down my classes/interfaces. It's my name
Me:
Me: Well isn't that delightful -
That awkward moment when you forget every goddamn shortcut in eclipse after having spent two years on IntelliJ!1
-
I used to love tabs and absolutely despise spaces, but a combination of using IntelliJ and company code indentation convention has converted me to the dark side #spacegang4
-
I have been discussing for quite a while now in a WhatsApp group what IDE is better, IntelliJ vs Eclipse. I personally prefer IntelliJ, for a lot of reasons. But what is your opinion, what are the pros/cons of each IDE for you?12
-
I'm preparing slides for my "Vim in an IDE world" talk right now. Do you use vim emulation plugins inside Intellij-based or any other IDEs? What do you think about them? What can you recommend to the beginners?12
-
So here are my goals for 2019 in no particular order:
-contribute to open source
-switching from intellij to vscode
-learn vim
-finish side projects
-live a healthier lifestyle (less meat, quality food)
-more DevOps
-do some hacking challenges
-learn proper linux system administration5 -
Accidentally ran
$ git reset --hard
On my 2 weeks worth of uncommited code.
Thankfully Intellij has a local history. 😥7 -
Seriously I'm using Intellij IDEA Ultimate, should I migrate to VS Code ? or should I just stay where I am ?9
-
Booted up IntelliJ to find the 2018.2 update just dropped. Took me a moment to get used to the design changes they've made, especially overhauling most of the icons.
Only thing I don't like in this change is taking away the color icons from my tool windows, there was a plugin to fix it though thankfully. I need some color in my workflow!
How's the update treating other jetbrains users? -
!rant
Made the switch to debian. First linux experience. Have already setup my IDE's and programs i need for work (Atom, IntelliJ, putty, filezilla, etc) . Loving it so far!11 -
WTF intellij DataGrip is way too good. Why didnt anyone tell me this software exists?? I was using the oracle and pgadmin by now. Life could have been so much fking easier if i knew this existed4

Me: *creates new Vue.js project in IntelliJ IDEA*
Also me: *waits for 2 hours*
IntelliJ IDEA:
PS: Also could someone please comment with Vue Land Discord invite link/code that's not expired?3 -
Just found out that my project bought intellij idea's licenses just for two of the laziest devs while the rest of us are stuck with open source ides6
-
For Java and Kotlin I use IntelliJ, for like config files and crap VsCode.
For C-ish languages Visual Studio Community 2019. -
Would be cool if intellij didnt just underline errors with a tiny red line that i cant see and actually put like red dots on the side like eclipse.3
-
I thought I wouldn't be seeing the eclipse yesterday.
Sike, my company makes me use eclipse. Woe of me, I love intelliJ -
I like style checkers. I really do. I may not agree with any of the rules they force upon the rules, but I will bury that for consistent code. That said, why, oh why, does this damn thing have to fail out the build rather than just warning me in the IDE. This fucker takes 15 minutes to build and when it fucks the build, it's a huge waste of time.
That said, anyone know how to get check style rules out of Maven and put them in IntelliJ? Myself and my team would love you forever.3 -
So i was commenting on a rant by some user where we had this conversation about IDEs and editors...
Point: Intellij has an option to set a background to the whole ide which gives coding a unique experience instead of the pale dull solid color background.
Go to Settings > Appearance > Background image is in the main appearance tab click and set the image, position, transparency ... And voila u have a background image on your editor.
Alternative way just go to settings and search for background image12 -
mvn clean install: all tests pass
run all tests in IntelliJ: the same 6 tests fail every time
run those 6 tests in IntelliJ: they pass
-_-4 -
Functional Programming Class, an assignment it's that we should develop a calculator, creating our own basic functions (addition implementation with a half-adder and string manipulation).
Teacher tolds us that it has to be coded in Haskell and for the GUI we can use whatever we want, then this fucktard comes around and speaks like he knows everything
Him: Oh, yeah we will use IntelliJ to link the Haskell code with a GUI, because IntelliJ supports Haskell
Me: But IntelliJ it's a(damn) IDE, you still need to code the GUI.
Him: But IntelliJ supports Haskell, we will use it to build the GUI.
Me: Yet what you're trying to say it's that you will use Java to create the GUI and call from there Haskell, and that you will use IntelloJ forms to create the UI
Him: No, no, we're not using Java, we will use IntelliJ, are you dumb? Don't you know what's IntelliJ for?
*Fucking facepalm*
I don't know but at this point I'm not feeling proud that THIS kind of retards are going to graduate in this year...3 -

Moving from Eclipse to IntelliJ. Looks good so far with the dark theme, but I miss the hands-on feel of Eclipse. Which do y'all prefer for Java?17 -
tl;dr: What dark theme are you using in IntelliJ?
After seeing how easy it is for my coworker to do refactoring in IntelliJ, its git integration, some Emacs-like features in it, and generally because he made me believe it's an all-in-one IDE (is that right?), I'm considering leaving Sublime for IntelliJ.
The thing that's stopping me though is that I'm not able to find a good Monokai color scheme for it. I am using Boxy Monokai theme in sublime, and it's just awesome.
What dark theme are you using in IntelliJ?12 -
Intellij / vim
I primarily use intellij(-based ides) or vim.
Jetbrains is doing an awesome job with the intellij platform.
If its GoLand, IDEA, Pycharm, Webstorm, Rider or DataGrip.
Once you have indexed your project it works flawless. The autocomplete is EXTREME fast and very good. You got quick actions, refactoring and barely need to use your mouse.
Everything works fine. And if there is something missing there is an plugin for it. And if there even doesnt exist a plugin already, you can code one!
The price is relatively high, but its worth every damn cent!
For light editing and ansible stuff i primarily use vim.
Its good to go and i am pretty sure i am using not even 1 percent of the features. Although i am learning new stuff about it every day.
Its cool if i just want to code distraction free and dont want to leave my sweet $HOME. Yeah i am a linux & bash fetishist, although sometimes its driving me crazy.4 -
Why is it so f*cking difficult to get an application deployed locally with IntelliJ on a Weblogic <ancient version> application server in debug mode... thank you Oracle!
-
I'm starting to learning Java. Should I use intelliJ Idea or Vs code?
p.s I am using VS code for a while.20 -
!rant
Emacs vs Vim? Why not both!
I found a gem of an editor called Spacemacs which combines the power of Emacs and the editing capabilities of Vim! Already replaced intelliJ with spacemacs for my scala and Java projects :)21 -
Android Development. Question to those who are experienced:
There is IntelliJ and AndroidStudio. I know that IntelliJ is mainly for Java Desktop Development but I've heard that it can be used for Android development too. Android Studio is clunky. Which one is better for lightweight Android development? Oh, and why is AndroidStudio not in the JetbrainsToolbox?2 -
If anybody even cares I use sublime for HTML, CSS, JS and php and IntelliJ for Java... even tho idk why would even anyone care soooo
bye -
I accidentally added an node project with node modules into IntelliJ and its still indexing my files.. hopefully it'll get over till my next years appraisal3
-
Fucking IntelliJ
It does not often die on me when I do a Maven import, but when it does, I hate it.
</endOfRant>
Otherwise I love IntelliJ <35 -
Starts IntelliJ (first time in a while). There's a new update for IntelliJ. Closes IntelliJ. Installs update. Starts IntelliJ. There's a new update for IntelliJ. Closes IntelliJ. Installs update. Starts IntelliJ.
Vim handles even that better. -
After weeks of working on my esolang interpreter in Rust while learning the language at the same time I'm finally at a point where I'm able to do the first test...
Only to realize IntelliJ Rust doesn't support debugging 😴2 -
This was sadly recent. I have git checkout aliased to ‘gco’.
I was on a dev branch with a load of uncommitted changes, and I accidentally ran ‘gco ..’ instead of ‘cd ..’ (I use them both quite often)
That was one of my more frantic google searches.....
Thankfully I was able to get all my changes back, but only thanks to IntelliJ’s local history feature allowing me to revert each file reload from disk. -
Have you ever been so frustrated with a problem that you almost posted a question to Stackoverflow.com just to find your answer minutes later?
Which reminds me, I need to comment on that thread where I found my answer. It wasn't entirely correct...4 -
woow PHPStorm is such an incredibly buggy piece of shit .... how can anyone work with such a buggy IDE?
It randomly looses settings on restart. A lot of functionality is just so poorly tested. Anyone ever really tried to work with the integrated DB tool?
Or the CSV plugin? there are countless bugs in both usability and function-wise.
But I guess that's because it's just plugins ... you know .. you don't need to use them ...
Is the PHP code formatter a plugin too? Guess I don't have to use it at all, if it randomly scrambles whole lines if I format with a missing } or some other improper syntax. Right, overall it's my fault, right??
Fuck you PHPStorm, and you IntelliJ too. you're not better at all.12 -
Favorite IDE: JetBrain's WebStorm (for JavaScript stuff), Intellij (for most of everything else).
Why: cause it literally saves you time.
Bonus: VS Code for anything else (python or golang)3 -
End of financial year in Australia
Purchased IntelliJ Ultimate
The cost will be tax deductible
Nice1 -
What IDE do you guys use?
I use notepad++, Codeanywhere and Visual Studio 2017 Pro.
I'm looking for decent code completion with internal referencing to keep track of methods and variable.
Would you recommend staying with VS or how about intelliJ?
Or something new?6 -
eclipse is just shit. Had to help a friend with his eclipse installation, crashed every hour or so. Frickin shit. Never had such problems with IntelliJ. This whole program is shit. Not the first time such weird stuff is happening with eclipse4
-
Yep, IntelliJ is definitely worth $60/month. Look at this feature where it can’t create a java class.
Seriously, if I am paying money for this, it shouldn’t perform worse than a free IDE. Are you sure you IntelliJ fans aren’t just experiencing Stockholm Syndrome? Because your IDE is so god awful it’s sad.8 -
Yes, thanks you, IntelliJ, how did you know I wanted to set the fucking NODE_MODULES folder as my fucking KOTLIN SOURCES ROOT every time I hit Gradle refresh?
-
Today I made some tests with flutter, I really liked it :)
What I didn't like was the time that Android studio takes to load, the memory it uses, and the time of gradle builds. I'll be using nvim, so, half of the problems are solved.2 -

Guys, could you please give me some gift ideas for a programmer? I was thinking about an IntelliJ Idea subscription, but it's too expensive for a present.17 -
Are there any frontend developers out there that use a full ide like webstorm, intellij or eclipse?
I can't seem to understand why everyone is mucking about in a text editor without breakpoints and such6 -
Was always wondering how different programmers perceive their IDEs: for front-enders it's simple lightweight cool-looking notepad when majority of back-enders uses heavy tank-looking shit like intellij or eclipse with guns, rifles and much more shit6
-
Dear intellij,
Please create a pop up that checks if there is some other process running on port (8080). I have to spend one CMD instance worth of time just to kill that damn process.
I would have laughed at some other rant by saving this time. :(1 -
I hate VCS integration in IDEs. No I do not want to add the new fucking file to Git, IntelliJ. Urgh5
-
Every new day a new Intellij idea BUG ....
Don‘t believe they actually charge you money for this crapware ... how can anyone be happy with that??3 -
Biggest life saving difference between eclipse and IntelliJ . I don't need to do cltr + s in IntelliJ but in eclipse I need to keep saving changes .
I have lost lot of changes when working with eclipse .2 -
Editor? VSCode
IDE? Anything from JetBrains: PhpStorm, DataGrip, Android Studio, occasionally PyCharm and IntelliJ IDEA2 -
Spent about an hour and a half getting an NPE. Cleaned the project, rebuilt, restarted IntelliJ, danced the ancient code dance... Nothing.
Clicked Run one more time and everything worked. TF was that about? I HATE these types of bugs!!1 -
Translating the instructions for Eclipse Java EE development into Intellij because I refuse to work with Eclipse.4
-
IntelliJ refactoring tools because......because.
Least favourite dev tool: Xcode refactoring tools because they still dont support Apples own language. -
I really love it when im working on a really huge database with tens of millions of rows, and the db plugin for intelliJ tries to load the HOLE FUCKING TABLE ending up with intellij, and the whole computer freezing and i have to wait for a memory warning from the os before i can restart the program.
-
I hate Intellij Idea but it's best option available to develop in Scala. Improvements in VSCode/Metals is my last hope.
The (few) things I NEED from Intellij:
* Very good autocompletion
* Refactoring tools (renaming, auto imports)
* Search tools (find usages, sub/super-types)
The (many) things I hate of Intellij:
* Layout with panel sizes doesn't behave properly and it scales instead of remaining fixed.
* Tedious 2-hands shortcuts makes the right hand to move a lot from the mouse
* Delays and lag in the UI, freezes on garbage collection
* High memory consumption, high CPU usage and generally slow and cumbersome
* The delay in the UI between commands is so that it's accidentally possible to introduce typos
* Can't move tabs around and organize them as I like
* Ugly font rendering and missing typography settings
* Multi-caret implementation as a different editing mode is annoying because requires frequent switching
* Unnatural code folding regions, why method arguments are not folded with the method?
* Unhelpful support forum, sometimes dismissive answers
* Highlighting of current word under the caret doesn't work
* Very slow editor, can't keep spacebar pressed to move text or it hangs!
* Several settings reset at every update. Like the auto fetch of git
* New features are added and enabled by default which is very invasive
* Some of the features mentioned above are really annoying and it's not possible/not trivial to disable them
* It uses its own compile and several times it highlights false positives7 -
I've grown so dependent on my code editor for daily work. If someone takes away my code editor (intelliJ) I am effectively handicapped. Won't even know if the syntax of the language I am writing in daily for the last two years is correct.4
-
Question for intellij idea users:
Does anyone know of a plugin which would allow me to customize order of folders in my project view?
Now all modules are sorted by alphabetical order and I want to sort them by app logic.
I already tried Armory https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugi... which seems to do everything I need, but after restarting IDE the folder order is not being saved properly.3 -
Anyone know any nice code quality tools/bug finders (besides find-bugs) plugins for Intellij IDEA?2
-
The last major version made IntelliJ Idea unbearably slow on my 1 year old Intel Core i7 PC.
Fuck it, as soon as I have one hour free I'm going to reinstall Java extensions on Neovim. Stack traces sucks enough even without seconds of lags when you try scrolling them.5 -
My favorite tools:
IDEs : Jetbrain's IDEs intelliJ, pyCharm, ...etc.
The only exception is Visual Studio for C++ ( for no reason but I haven't tried Clion yet)
Text editor: atom
GIT GUI: Gitkraken, or just a terminal
Music player: Spotify -
I never thought in my life that I would say this sentence one day - but:
Today I switched back to VS Code because it uses less memory than IntelliJ.
Context: Only temporary, very resource hungry dev environment, TypeScript, IntelliJ used >4.5 GB of ram and started lagging.5 -
I dont wanna start a war whicj IDE is better but I love intellij
They have the right features, structure, plugins and default behaviour that I can programm comftably.2 -
JCreator doesn't have a dark theme 😠. I know JCreator isn't the best, but that's the one my school uses. I'm trying to "learn" how to use IntelliJ. But JCreator will work for the time being.10
-
How is eclipse doing these days? I got frustrated with it 5 years ago and started using IntelliJ. Is it worth giving it one more try?4
-
intellij is the dumbest fucjing appo to exist
jetbrains is a retarded company and its why noboody fucking likes them
an editor shouldnt be 1000 gigabytes fuckjingbig and it shouldnt be impossoible to find out how to fucking delete a project
fuck you jetbrains10 -
Is Manjaro good for web and mobile developer? Currently I'm using Kubuntu, but I'm thinking about switching to Manjaro with i3. I'm using Andoroid Studion, Intellij, VS Code, GoLang and Java. I might replace VS Code with Vim later down the line.3
-
* shell scripts -- vim
* on remote machines -- vim
* java -- IntelliJ
* web (html/css/js/wtv) -- WebStorm
* C/C++ -- CLion -
What are your favorite intellij themes apart from darcula and whatever that default bright thing is called?2
-
Some pigs just don't fly, even with sufficient thrust.
Been struggling for days trying to get my IntelliJ-on-Linux-VM setup running on Windows, and it's abysmally slow. Latencies for the UI are counted in seconds.
Screw it, I'm reinstalling my entire dev stack direct on Windows. I love Linux, but I will not use it when the price is that I cannot get anything done.8 -
Developing plugins for IntelliJ is a very cool thing most of the time. I mean they made an amazing job building the infrastructure for messaging and so on.
But some things are not really documented, you have to go through existing code or search for javadoc.
So its like half of the time you feel amazing while coding and then you need something not that obvious and you are stuck with an easy task. After some hour of frustation you find a cool way to solve it and the show goes on.
Its like driving in a rollercoaster of (coding) emotions. But that makes it feel like an adventure or sth ... -
I keep closing browser tabs by mistake whenever I try to expand text selection by clicking CTRL + W
IntelliJ ruined me! -
I sometimes think IntelliJ is just sitting there laughing at me ...
Im banging away at my keyboard going ..look at all I have written !!mwhahahaha !!! ... and it's like .. hey look you can simplify ... its just sitting there thinking ... really? all that ?... you have all the lines .. and this is sooo simple ... you complete dumb ass -
I start to learn Java in university. They are using Eclipse but I want to use IntelliJ and we are also allowed to do it...
IntelliJ looks a little bit overloaded at a first glance but I like Jetbrains...
Would you use Eclipse or IntelliJ?8 -
JetBrains Rider
"A cross-platform .NET IDE based on the IntelliJ platform and ReSharper"
Oh man...👍🏼 -
So, I really tried .. again ... to use intellij. And i simply really don't get it. Why do so many devs like it? For me it feels like swimming in the dark not knowing if my java code will actually build because there is no fucking actual build feedback provided in real time.
I can build the whole project and get a build log, a fucking text log! I want my eclipse problems view, that auto-updates with erronious code as I type ... as I FUCKING TYPE!
Ok so there are various "hacks" to enable auto-build, even while having a running debug session, (in the registry ..., remind me of old windows days *sigh*).
And still, all looks good and I start the program an baaammm, compile time errors on start What the actual fuck?
Also why the heck does it allow to setup/move/resize the panels when i resets them every fucking time I restart intellij???
The UI is so cluttered and illogical, like the debugging view that has three tool/tabbars on it's own, on various hierarchies, even a vertical one. It alls looks so ... in a lack of a better word I would say "hingspieben" [austrian for "puked out"]
The only real nice thing is the "settings sync" to github. Everything else is mediocre or even really really bad.
So intellij users, please tell me, what do you guys really like about it, that is so good that no other IDE has is?9 -
Anyone aware of an extension for VSCode that can create a branch from a task/issue in GitHub or GitLab; similar to how IntelliJ tasks work?1
-
My favorite code editor/IDE are the IntelliJ based IDEs (GoLand, Rider, WebStorm, ...)
There are nice to use, have many features that help developing -
Anyone ever try Tomcat debugging in VS Code? Specifically with Kotlin? I'm starting to get real fed up with IntelliJ tbh... it keeps screwing up when I have a multi-project/module workspace.
-
Week 2 of learning Scala in my Programming Paradigms class. Is it just me or is Scala plus IntelliJ the best thing ever?1
-
Funny to find out that IntelliJ has a Shortcut for getter and Setter after making a own Programm that writes those methods trough String building...
-
[Warning – rapid flickering in GIF below].
You know JetBrains can't build software when you can't even login to their own bug tracker because the login modal just flickers constantly. Every software I've used from JetBrains is ridden with bugs. They are mentally ill. -
*Begins a java project in IntelliJ*
*Puts it on git without committing .idea folder*
*Suddenly finds out 26 libraries are needed so adds maven*
*Collaborators don't like maven*
*Battle on git between package names com.company.project and main.java.com.company.project* -
IntelliJ themes suck shit. I can't tell errors from warnings, comment errors from syntax errors, where the syntax errors are, ...
I've been trying to configure something sensible for hours now and no luck.
Go fuck yourself JetShitForBrains. I just need to code a simple method. Did I mention that JetBrains can go fuck themselves?6 -
Auto-popup completion died in IntelliJ on my laptop... I am nothing without it 😭😭
Plus on uni wifi so can't even download it to reinstall... It would take hours on end.
Must now manually type everything... Wish me luck ☹️ -
Open rally, open IntelliJ, ssh into something tail a log, Spotify playlist comedians. Space out... start working at 2pm leave at 3.1

I'm following the Grable tutorial and running into an issue with pointing to the main class in Intellij. Anyone have any ideas?

IntelliJ, CLion, Pycharm and Rider are awesome. But Ruby Mine is the most bugged software ever made.

Blah..hate IntelliJ spent 3 h to set up a dev env with Adaptavista groovy...Jira total "clusterfuck"2

So apparently it’s been an unresolved issue in IntelliJ for the past 4 years that sometimes debugging gradle tasks just fails silently. Found a number of workarounds online for old versions but they since removed the options in settings that fixed the issue? Fuck you jetbrains

https://hahaxo.xlog.app/JetBrains-x...
this shit registers intellij ultimate until 2048, for free. and it works even for the latest version of intellij
whoever this chinese man is, is a fucking genius. Been looking for a fucking intellij crack for way too long!9 -
Learning Spring at the moment... The autowiring thing gives me a lot of WTF moments but I think that's why people love it. Can't find any good tutorial explaining what's under the hood either.
And I don't know why I just have this great idea of "let me make it harder" by switching to IntelliJ from Eclipse at the same time. As if it's not bad enough that I need to produce something useful within a short time...1 -
clicking on file tabs in intelliJ is making the project navigator (cmd+1) expand and collapse randomly and its driving me insane
-
Apparently you need to enable the basic zoom in feature of mouse wheel up + ctrl in intellij. Why isn't it turned on by default? Arghhh4
-
I've been working on a project which has been understaffed (from the beginning, now I know).
All the newly hired guys, who are more experienced than me (in terms of how many years of work experience), use Eclipse.
I use IntelliJ.
I don't think I can make them switch to IntelliJ.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how frustrated should I be?8 -
At my old job, using a simple text editor and a separate terminal was touted as being "archaic." "Why not use emacs or intellij?" They'd say... is anyone else also a fan of simplicity?1
