I love this documentation about System. nanoTime()
Differences in successive calls that span greater than approximately 292 years (2^63 nanoseconds) will not correctly compute elapsed time due to numerical overflow.
Can I confidently say that no service will ever break this limit?5 -
As part of a technical test, I've been asked to test and report bugs in the production application of the company. Is that normal? Or are they making me do free work for them?.
So far I've only seen challenges like this to be done on a custom application for test.7 -
When you are able to switch jobs easily and clear interviews in good companies without sweating much.2

I usually fucking ignore those shitheads. If I am in the mood, I ask tough questions to expose them.

I love software engineering. I enjoy every aspects of it. But recently due to some company politics it is a shit show at my workplace.
I am actively looking for a change and things are going bit slow due to the pandemic situation. I am really frustrated and end up having nightmares every time when I sleep. I know in these times having a job itself is a big thing.
I really wish to be at a place where I can work effectively. -
I've been flooded with recruiter messages when I was not looking for a change. Now when I want to change, fuck.. I hardly get any responses..

Any Indian students here?. Are you guys still using Turboo C++ to teach programming?.
Also what about microprocessor?. Still 8085?13 -
Guys,
I'm in kind of crappy situation. We are in dire needs of some improvements to our infrastructure. I've told that to the person who is responsible for it several times to get it improved. But because of his incompetency or laziness he just do some hacky solutions which gonna blow up on the the very next day and makes things worse.
I've raised my concern to my supervisor several times. He is also kinda slow in pushing things.
These infrastructure changes are for testing purposes so it doesn't have an immediate impact on their business. But it is kinda productivity killer for all.6 -
I finished a big refactoring. It makes me feel so good to delete all those lines of code. Even though I have a decided to leave this company in the near future, I am very happy that I leave the code in a better shape. Somebody who is replacing me doesn't have to go through shit anymore.2
-
I hate those morons who do QA by simply clicking around. You are a disgrace to people like me who like to code and still enjoy doing testing.
Get a life you fuckers. You are the sole reason why many people in industry thinks that QA is something anybody can do.
Yes, I agree you can test the application, but in no way you could ensure the quality of the product.4 -
I am currently refactoring some code which exists before my time in this company.
The code was so inefficient before. To put into perspective for every function call it used to loop through some data 100+ times .
I replaced it with a map and voila, no more loops anymore.
The person who wrote this code don't even realise how bad his code was. He sits besides me writing more stupid hacky code for other parts of the app.3 -
I hate this stupid git, said by my colleague who really don't understand how to use it properly.
They always fuck up merges, forgets to commit and loose changes and fails terribly in resolving conflicts.
Yeah! Git is not stupid my dear. It is you who is stupid.6 -
Sometimes I feel that us IT employees are very much spoiled.
# Work from anywhere in the world , sometimes even in your underwear.
# Work at anytime.
# Opportunity to learn everyday.
# Well paid.7 -
I've been to a meeting where I asked a question and the reply I got was not remotely related to the question.
He asked me ' Does my answer makes sense?'
I said yeah.
Inner me: I am so tired and I can't repeat the question once again. Aren't you even listening?.1 -
Few months back I got a decent increment as a token of appreciation for my good work.
Yesterday we all received a Special townhall meeting invitation.
We all were wondering what it was about. Now my colleague who sits beside was guessing that it may be about a salary revision and she complained that she didn't get any increment last time.
Inner me: Why the heck company should increment your salary for the shitty work you do.
You are simply incapable of doing what you are supposed to do.
You spend more time talking crap rather than trying to learn and use it to write some non shitty code.
You should be thankful to the company for not firing you.1 -
How many of you work for a company which is making profit?
My current company is burning cash everyday hoping to be profitable after 1-2 years.4 -
How do you deal with those fuckers who pretends to know things but as a matter of fact they are so dumb and can't figure out basic things on their own.
Unfortunately I am working with someone like that .She is very social and talkative. Everybody has a good impression about her and thinks that she is really good at work.
Only I know the truth.4 -
Do you believe in QA who only tests the application as a user i.e just blackbox testing of clicking here and there.?
The QAs in my company doesn't have a clue on how the shit works and most of them don't even understand a line of code.
I feel that it's really important to test the application from the web api level as well to test out all the complex business logics which may not be feasible from the UI.15 -
Here is my day.
1. Mac wanted to perform an update.
2. I said Okay, Do it.
3. It took sometime, I thought WTF let's force reboot.
4. Shit happened. I am unable to boot as install is corrupted.
5. Reinstalled a fresh copy. I didn't have a backup.
6. Realised that my two days of work is gone since I haven't pushed the code to github.
7. Found out that I made a docker image with all of the latest changes.
8. Now trying to decompile and rewrite the code from the jar in docker image.10 -
Unfortunately I am working in a firm where they consider QAs as some second class citizens. Also the QAs we have right now are purely blackbox testers who doesn't know shit about the system.
In my opinion a QA should know about the system and integration. They should also have decent programming skills.
What are your thoughts?2 -
Reached home by 6, had dinner, played some FIFA, felt sleepy and went to bed by 9.30.
Now I woke in the middle of the night and going through every app in my phone .
I just came here to say Hi.1
