Muahahahahahahaha!
I just had the most evil thought.
I could create a mod for Minecraft that is an interface to the devrant API. Then I could get thousands and thousands of Minecraft players to use this mod. It would be a FLOOD of noobs who know nothing about devrant posting on devrant from within Minecraft!

Great idea, but why would anyone use this mod?

@ScriptCoded I dunno, but it would be funny. Maybe do rewards based upon devrant score. In game buffs or items.

@ScriptCoded come on! you seem like a fun person? don't steal @Demolishun moment of having a good laugh. 😄

You know, there is a computer craft mod in Minecraft. It can do http... So I wouldn't even need to write a mod. Just write in game script.

    Or do something actually useful?
  • 2
@WeAreMany I do that all day. Sometimes you gotta do something fun.

@heyheni Your getting it all wrong! I'm trying to refine the idea so that it actually takes on and becomes _real fun_!

Are you saying this doesn't already exist?

    @electrineer Honestly don't know.

Use the ranter’s ID as a seed for e.g. terrain generation. Would be good for per-player mystcraft servers (or skyblock, if you’re into that), etc.

Use the ranter’s ++ as the number of zombies to spawn on your first login every Monday morning — It’s raining clients/management!

The lobby could be a nice open-office workspace a la the devRant graphics with ComputerCraft computers that allow reading the devRant feed. You could also have cubes with login-only machines (no actual oauth, just a username input) that teleport you or anyone else to your personal dimension.

@Demolishun sorry, had a Boomer morning. Do it for the lulz, you're right.

@Root wait is that possible to do in minecraft (never really played it)? Dayumn. I guess it's kind of visual programming as a FBP variant then. Actually awesome.

@WeAreMany There is a mod called computer craft (and other variants). They have lua implemented with networking support. It can do http/https communication and possibly more. Originally this feature was put in so programs could be uploaded/downloaded off pastebin and other text sharing sites.

I had a mod in minecraft that could move structures (redstone in motion). So I made a Python program that served up my xbox 360 controller as a text string via an http website on localhost. I then used lua in minecraft in game to read this controller information. I could then control my in game objects with my xbox controller.

Had another evil thought. Bring javascript to minecraft computer craft. It is open source now and I could put the v8 engine in there. Is node.js open source? That might be opening a huge can of worms to provide support for that. An import could kill minecraft server.
