Aus Gov: here's a bright idea, let's enforce social media accounts being verified with enough identification to pull of identify theft with ease for the greater good.

Facebook: 533 million accounts leaked with names, email, phone, address details.

    Fuck this goddamn govt. I'm stuck in mandatory quarantine right now, without even basic necessities.

    As a matter of authoritarian govt, we're probs second to the Chinese. There is zero personal freedom. I'm practically in a glorified jail, and I have to fucking pay for it too. "For the good of the people" is an easy excuse to screw a minority of people, in this case international travelers.

    @NoMad 😅 why would you come back to 2 or is it 3 weeks hotel quarantine?

    * waves * if your at the Melb airport one.

    @C0D4 not at melb. Flight back was a shitshow and I was sent elsewhere. 😒

    Apparently aus just allows like 50 people in every day. Like, a shitshow in all senses.

    @NoMad oh shit, that's worse. I knew the flights in were limited but didn't know they made you camp out somewhere else to wait your turn 🤯

    @C0D4 anyways, my point is, shit govt. Despite them wanting to be on par with Europeans and Americans, this shitshow is just a proof of how much they ain't.

    I miss Gillard so bad. 😢

    Are there trusted sources to the leak Claims? Twitter is definetly not one.
    If there's a valid source please share.

    @Ranchonyx

    https://google.com.au/search/...

    Take your pick.

    Raidforums claim to have the data, haven't verified that myself.

    @NoMad she had the right idea, just got stuck in the Rudd yo-yo to have time to see anything through.

    We definitely wed a govt that actually gets shit done rather then talk the talk.

    @C0D4 oye appreciate it mate

    And then people say how restrictive Russia is. Where you need..A valid phone number.

    (BUT ID is required to chage your name on sicial medias. But NOT to create account. Yeah I know it's funny)

    @NoToJavaScript tricky. Why even need a phone number when you have a verified email? Plus, a phone number can change ownership. I move around a lot and can't keep the same number active for long enough. So now I have issues with my bank for the same exact fucking reason.

    I disagree

    I think identification data that leaked like email, phone number, name and surname is not a bad thing and more of those leaks may actually solve the issue not many see.

    The actual problem is that not everyone is identified and there are no independent trust providers but gov monopoly on identification of citizens.

    In my opinion this identification should be public so I can verify if personX is actually who he says he is.

    The technology is there but we keep calling using numeric values instead of personal data like we were still using cable phones.

    If ex. every number is identified as private or corporate and instead of seeing some numbers you see company name that’s calling you we will get rid of telemarketing crap.
